    Job Description

    The Nashville symphony is seeking a self-motivated Human Resource intern that is passionate about learning and with a continuous improvement mindset. The Human Resource internship is intended to give students hands-on experience and exposure to a variety of different HR and quality focused responsibilities across the organization.

    The purpose of the Human Resources Intern position is to support the HR team in all aspects of Human Resources by performing the administrative tasks of the department. The Human Resources Intern is a critical component of the Human Resources team supporting all areas of the employment experience.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO AS THE HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN: Gain exposure to various aspects of Human Resources while understanding the value of the department within the business model of the Nashville Symphony.  You will handle administrative tasks, maintain records, support recruitment needs,  and support a variety of initiatives.

    HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE: - (The below listed duties are not all inclusive. This position must also perform other duties as assigned.): Participate in projects to optimize the employee experience.

    Projects may be in the following areas:

    • Onboarding

    • Employee Engagement

    • Talent Management

    • Benefits

    • Compliance

    • File Maintenance

    • HRIS

    • Research and benchmark various HR topics

    • Support the HR function with other responsibilities as needed

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preference of major in business, psychology or HR

    • Interest in pursing a career in human resources and/or organizational development

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

     Strong organizational and time management skills required

    • Must be extremely detail oriented

    • Must be a self-starter and team player possessing a friendly, positive demeanor

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficient in all Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, etc.)

     

    Interns are expected to work 10-15 hours a week for the September-December internship period. Internship will cover dates starting in September and ending in December, with some flexibility on dates given varying school schedules.
