    Job Description

    We are inviting candidates with strong experience mixing live orchestral performances in a concert hall or performing arts center, and expertise mixing for a wide variety of guest artists and events to apply for this position. 

    I.                   PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    1.      Establish audio mixing standards for live orchestral and presentation performances, maintaining the optimal acoustical experience and reputation of the Nashville Symphony and Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

    2.      Collaborate regularly with staff, orchestra musicians, conductors and guest artists

    3.      Operate and/or supervise the operation of Schermerhorn Symphony Center audio equipment for the Nashville Symphony as well as rental clients.

    4.      Maintain all audio equipment, communicating effectively about any repair or replacement needs in a timely fashion.

    5.      Schedule equipment inventory to ensure availability for in-house and rental events.

    6.      Interpret technical riders and advance needs with touring productions.

    7.      Assist clients in the implementation of their technical needs.

    8.      Supervise crew for assigned events or maintenance activity.

    9.      Provide event related technical support to supervisor.

    10.  Specify and oversee equipment purchase and installation.

    11.  Ensure safety of department specific equipment.

    12.  Maintain department specific budgets.

    13.  Supervise and direct stagehands for “floor flips” in Laura Turner Concert Hall, as assigned.

    Supervise employees on technical crew. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    I.                   WORK REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    1.      Education:

     

    High School diploma or GED equivalent. Strong knowledge of orchestral performance, advanced knowledge and experience in live audio engineering.

     

    2.      Experience:

     

    Minimum 5 years experience audio engineering for live performances in concert hall or other performing arts venue, including concerts with or without orchestra & client events; strong experience working with professional symphonic orchestras

     

    3.      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     

    Ability to lead, contribute and thrive in a team environment.

     

     Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills; helpful attitude in developing creative responses and solutions to needs and issues.

     

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical manuals and specifications; ability to translate technical terminology to lay terms; strong oral skills for negotiating with vendors and dealing with customer service issues.

     

     Ability to work independently and use independent judgment while keeping supervisor informed of work activity and issues.

                  

    Ability to coordinate multiple projects and balance a sense of urgency with lower priorities while maintaining calm and professional.

     

     Excellent computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and CAD.

     

     Ability to work flexible hours depending on operational needs of the staff or required maintenance of systems.
