    The position supports the NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3 million members toward the promotion of public education by supporting NEA’s computing environment by operating, evolving, and maintaining the NEA’s systems to support critical business operations.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY: The position serves as a Salesforce Lightning Development Specialist providing subject matter expertise for the implementation, integration and support of Salesforce technology solutions.  The essential functions of this position include analysis, design and development of Salesforce solutions. The incumbent will work with senior members of the team to analyze business requirements, and translate those requirements into customized solutions using the Salesforce platform. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing Salesforce solutions that adhere to platform best practices and perform peer code reviews. The incumbent will be responsible for Salesforce implementations, which include custom platform development (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components), integrations with back office systems (often using middleware tools) and complex data migrations. The incumbent also designs, plans, develops, troubleshoots a variety of applications; monitors performance enhancements; supports application production; and performs ongoing maintenance to a wide variety of software applications. The incumbent serves as a team leader in determining system and user needs; strategic planning, evaluates and recommends changes to existing software; and keeps abreast of emerging technologies. To carry out these responsibilities, the incumbent uses a personal computer and associated software and travels occasionally.

    Required Skills

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained_. _ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Five years progressively responsible professional experience working with Salesforce Platform and its architecture. Experience in one or more Salesforce implementations, which include custom platform development (Apex, VisualForce, Lightning Components) is required. Extensive experience performing applications development, support and maintenance to a wide variety of applications. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Practical working experience developing and using SOAP and RESTful APIs; Knowledge of relational databases to include Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres; Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills; Knowledge of Agile processes and principles, and experience with Agile software, such as Jira. Experience with AWS Cloud Computing (SaaS, PaaS) and Salesforce, either through work at industry participants or consulting to the industry. Must be able to work extended hours on evenings and weekends.  Writing samples, i.e., technical documentation, required at interview.  Occasional travel required (10-20 overnights per year). 

     

    Required Experience

     

    TIER 1 (ESSENTIAL):  Demonstrated skills and expertise analyzing, designing, and documenting data in the Salesforce development environment and technologies. Proven problem resolution skills and experience in a customer-service IT environment.  Ability and desire to mentor in the Salesforce environment.  Ability to provide optimal technical solutions, based upon system characteristics.  Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.  Proven flexibility and effectiveness in handling multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing priorities or conditions.  Successful references.  TIER 2 (SIGNIFICANT): Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming first principles; Experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases (2012 and greater); Demonstrated skills ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Web API, C#, MVC, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, AWS SDK (Optional), JQuery, and Angular4+l and experience with .Net Framework and .Net Core. Experience in Project Management methodologies.  TIER 3 (DESIRABLE):  Knowledge of stress and unit testing techniques.
