    Job Description

    ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING FIRM IN LAKE FOREST IS SEEKING A FULL TIME PROJECT ENGINEER WITH PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND 6+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES INCLUDE THE DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS AND SYSTEMS FOR A VARIETY OF BUILDING TYPES; COLLABORATING WITH STAFF PROFESSIONALS OF VARYING DISCIPLINES AND DELEGATION OF DUTIES TO JUNIOR STAFF MEMBERS WITHIN THE STRUCTURAL DEPARTMENT. EXPERIENCE WITH COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS SUCH AS: INDUSTRIAL, RESTAURANTS, RETAIL, LOW/MID-RISE BUILDINGS, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, BUILDING REUSE AND RETROFIT, ETC. IS DESIRED. Typical Duties: Develop building structural system concepts and documentation from schematics through construction administration. Documentation of project budgets, schedules, structural scope, and estimates. Oversee the development process of construction documents and interface with CAD design team to deliver drawing product to current state and local regulations. Lead and coordinate structural engineering issues for potentially large and complex projects with occasional oversight. Apply structural engineering principles to new and unusual situations and collaborate ideas with other structural team members. Prepare and monitor project status reports. Interact with other discipline team leaders and clients. Travel for site investigations, project, and construction meetings. Provide post-design contractor support for bidding submittal reviews, RFI responses, and provide accurate construction observations. Perform project specific duties, as directed from a supervisor. Position Qualifications: CIVIL ENGINEERING/PE LICENSE DESIRED. Bachelor's Degree required. MINIMUM OF 6 YEARS OF ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING. FOCUSED WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF STRUCTURAL SYSTEM DESIGN AND ANALYTICAL EXPERTISE WITH CONCRETE, STEEL, MASONRY, AND WOOD STRUCTURES WITH RESPECT TO CBC AND IBC. General working knowledge of inter-disciplinary architectural building systems. CAD literate, familiarity with Revit a plus. Ability to work within deadlines and communicate effectively with others.
