National Journal is hiring a STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT ASSOCIATE to be a part of our team that serves both existing and potential members. This role is responsible for fostering engagement and increasing adoption of National Journal resources within various Government Affairs audiences including Capitol Hill, colleges and universities, and corporate offices. The Strategic Engagement Associate will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and will conduct targeted outreach, complete in-person and virtual meetings with clients, and will be responsible for renewing and growing existing client relationships. In addition, this role will support key initiatives on the new business team, ranging from identifying new markets for product expansion, and testing new product lines and services.

WHAT IS NATIONAL JOURNAL’S REVENUE TEAM?
National Journal’s Revenue team provides white-glove service to our existing members, ensures members utilize their National Journal resources without issue, and holds responsibility for renewing existing contracts and identifying upsell potential with existing clients. This team identifies new prospects and additional markets for NJ membership and our suite of services.
THE ROLE:
This role is looking for someone motivated by achieving individual and team targets as well as someone who is interested in understanding the fundamentals of a revenue organization that serves the Washington D.C. audience. This role offers the opportunity to hone communications skills, conduct senior-level outreach, and become a thought partner with clients in the government affairs space.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Identifying prospects and new markets, and scheduling meetings with potential members.
Developing effective strategies for maintaining visibility of services and deliverables at member organizations
Participating and facilitating conversations about high-level policy issues, synthesizing and suggesting solutions that National Journal can provide based on best practices in the field
Demonstrating deep knowledge of National Journal products, able to suggest new ways members can utilize services
Driving engagement with our House & Senate members through targeted outreach, virtual demonstrations and in person meetings and training sessions, in addition to user set up and onboarding new members.
Developing monthly usage statistics and assisting with renewals.
Renewing and growing our academic member base, achieving individual and team-wide goals
Providing superior service to member organizations
Tracking and mapping client history and engagement to create strategic outreach plans, utilizing the platform, Churn Zero
Identifying successful trends and proactively suggesting innovative ways to iterate on existing products and services
Adapting to changing product offerings and internal processes, consistently keeping your clients’ best interests at the center
Working collaboratively to provide market feedback to other parts of the business

A full course of the COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment at National Journal
0-2 years professional o educational experience in applicable fields, such as government affairs, account management, sales, or customer success is a plus!
Interest in policy and politics, the government affairs space
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this role is $50,000 plus commision
REMOTE STATUS: Role is based in Washington, DC (hybrid in person/virtual)
