Job Description
Conduct data collection and data analysis under general instruction following standard research methodologies.
Set up and maintain accurate and timely records for assigned research sessions conducted with marine mammals.
Have a general understanding of animal training and behavior, in order to conduct behavioral research projects.
Coordinate with research staff and animal training staff to ensure research sessions are conducted in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
Communicate to Principal Investigators daily on the status of assigned projects. Prepare reports and summaries on data being collected and progress of assigned projects.
Set up, break down, and maintain all equipment related to assigned research projects.
Conduct literature review related to assigned projects.
As needed, support other research staff members to ensure the research team as a whole works proficiently.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Some planning and prioritization must occur to complete tasks effectively.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM related field
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word
Comfortable working on/around the water and outdoors
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Job Requirements
Prior coding experience in Python/MatLab/R or equivalent
Experience collecting and analyzing data as part of a formal research project in a related field
Prior experience conducting research with animals under behavioral control, preferentially marine mammals
