The National Marine Mammal Foundation (NMMF) is offering an internship opportunity to work with our San Diego medical records team to perform data entry and database quality control testing for our Endangered Killer Whale Health Database. The internship will involve a commitment of 30-40 hours per week on average extending over a 10-to-12-week period. The internship will start as soon as the position is filled (we have some flexibility in the start and end date).

Duties will include completing the data entry into the killer whale database, and then performing thorough quality control of the entered data.

NMMF will provide a $2500 stipend for the duration of the internship. The intern will be responsible for his or her own living expenses and transportation to/from the NMMF office.

Ideal applicants will be veterinary students or graduate students of a scientifically-oriented university program in marine science, biology, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with well-developed computer skills and database experience.

The internship application consists of a resume, letter of interest, transcripts of university coursework, and two letters of recommendation from professors or research supervisors who are familiar with the applicant’s scholarship, research skills, and work habits relevant to the internship. Application materials should be emailed directly to hr@nmmf.org.
