    The accountant is dedicated to ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies related to the fixed assets in all North America locations. This role partners with key stakeholders in the business (Controllers, Operations Management, R&D, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Tax.) Additionally this position will proactively provide guidance to finance and non-finance business partners as it relates to accounting treatment and company policies. Key responsibilities of the position is to support the implementation and sustainability of entity level controls for the capital appropriation process, ensure accurate presentation of all fixed asset related activity on financial statements and filings.

    • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger including tax methods, and lives; ensure timely capitalization, accurate asset status, dispositions, and potential impairment of assets including collection and maintenance of supporting documentation
    • Calculate, validate, and post monthly depreciation and other entries necessary to ensure accurate financial statements in the fixed asset area
    • Perform variance analysis and roll-forward monthly on fixed asset accounts by company code and individual Sage databases
    • Reconcile fixed asset accounts monthly
    • Ensure stat accounts in HFM are loaded timely
    • Support the capital budgeting process for North America with depreciation forecasts and project tracking
    • Track, monitor, and report on construction in progress for capital projects; analyze monthly activity to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
    • Understand the business activities in North America to ensure it is correctly reflected in the company balance sheet and income statements; collaborate with project manager on key capital projects to provide support and resolve concerns proactively
    • Subject matter expert for North America on fixed asset related accounting topics (ASC360); ability to explain to non-finance business partners as well as apply them to daily business practices
    • Ensure compliance with company capital appropriation policies including collection of required approvals, analytics, actual spend tracking, and related reporting
    • Maintain workflow approval hierarchy routes to support compliance with the capital appropriation policy
    • Participate in and support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls for the area; provide fixed asset audit support as requested
    • Prepare reports necessary for internal stakeholders to include, but not limited to insurance, PPT, census, and other tax reporting
    • Proactively identify issues and identify continuous improvement opportunities
    • Other duties as determined

     

    Required Skills Required Skills:

    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance required

    • Three years accounting experience preferred

    • Demonstrated experience in the application of accounting principles associated with fixed assets and related sales/use and personal property taxes.

    • Previous experience in large, manufacturing ERP required; SAP and/or Sage experience preferred

    • Solid understanding of US GAAP particularly ASC 360

    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative manner

    • Strong professional written and communication skills

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Proficient with MS Office Suite; intermediate to advanced Excel skills
