    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    As a Product Owner this individual is responsible for executing on the VDS (Vehicle Dynamics Systems) product vision and roadmap. The individual is also responsible for organizing, prioritizing, evaluating, and communicating the work generated by a Scrum team developing solutions for next generation DAS (Driver Assistance Systems) products and features for commercial vehicles. 

    Collaborating with product management and stakeholders, this position will help identify the needs and the value this product can bring to the customer and the overall Bendix product portfolio. As part of an Agile Workforce Team this individual will be responsible for clearly articulating these needs and priority to the development team.   

    This position is expected to represent the customer and business interests through the definition and prioritization of the agile process that provide sequential deliverables to satisfy the larger business features and solutions. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Understand the wider landscape of products and programs at Bendix in order to identify and plan for dependencies with other teams.
    • Act as part of the Product Management function to provide input to the business vision and roadmap definition and to support business planning processes
    • Own the delivery of the roadmap, product planning, and requirements for new features and improvements.
    • Execute the role of a Product Owner as described in the Scrum Guide.
    • Work collaboratively with the Agile team to align with product vision, negotiate commitments and maximize value delivery.
    • Sequence and balance trade-offs among conflicting business priorities.
    • Constantly pursues incremental delivery by looking for ways to meet business goals and learn from members and end users through frequent, measurable enhancements.
    • Interacts with stakeholders during sprint reviews, or individually, to show the most critical aspects of a solution and negotiate feasible systems solutions
    • Effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders and all levels of management
    • Fosters a strong team interaction that allows people to get information on time by creating an environment where people share ideas and opinions, even when they disagree to ensure optimum solutions, activities.
    • Acts as customer advocate for team questions and seeks out opportunities to connect the team with end users, stakeholders and customers to develop and improve their understanding and empathy of end user needs
    • Establish and maintain business cases for opportunities based on product and customer strategies.
    • Work with the team to incorporate the appropriate Definition of Done into the user stories facilitating product increments compliant with the Global Change Management process

    KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge preferably related to heavy truck.
    • Experience negotiating tradeoffs with technical and business resources
    • Knowledge of driver assistance features and functions at vehicle level.
    • Capable of barrier breaking and resolution methods given competing priorities outside of the immediate group.
    • Understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand complex ideas and break them down into smaller concepts and deliverables
    • In-depth knowledge of air brake systems is a plus.

     

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Desired 3+ years of product management / project management experience preferably in driver assistance, vehicle dynamics, or vehicles controls engineering.
    • Backlog prioritization and communication to Scrum team customer desired features.
    • Frequent communication with customers
    • Hands on mechanical, electrical, or test automotive experience.
    • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and/or automotive market is a plus.
    • Strong product design experience.
    • Knowledge and experience with product quality tools such as system FMEA, DVP&R, ISO 26262, ASPICE, and Functional Safety Concepts.

    • Bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree in Engineering or Business administration with experience working in manufacturing section required

  • Qualifications

    Minimum education & experience level required:

    • 5-8 years of experience in student/academic advising, internship advising and/or recruiting
    • Higher education experience strongly preferred including experience working with graduate level student populations
    • Knowledge of public health and healthcare landscape; experience working in the field highly preferred
    • Masters Degree strongly preferred

     

    Skill requirements (include complexity of position):

    • Demonstrated success in building relationships at all levels, from entry to executive level
    • Critical and analytical thinking skills to provide constructive feedback on masters level academic assignments; aptitude to develop general understanding of complex public health subject matter (i.e. epidemiology)
    • Strong problem solver to mitigate potential risks for students and the School
    • Experience working collaboratively with teams, including faculty and subject matter experts
    • Experience creating and delivering engaging educational workshops
    • Excellent technical skills including Excel, PPT, statistical tools (NVivo preferred), database management, social media and HTML
    • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage high volume of practicums (400+/year)
