    ENGINEER 1-3, PRODUCT  - VEHICLE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS   

            

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    Product Engineer supporting the Vehicle Dynamic Systems product lines. The Product Engineer will be responsible for the development and launching of electronic components and braking safety systems for commercial vehicles. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Drive validation tasks of several components at various launch stages through Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) process.
    • Interface with Systems Engineers to document system requirements and test results
    • Design of experiment capabilities and abilities to execute and document the experiment into a test management system
    • Coordinate technician resources for test setup, component validation and data collection
    • Organize test plans and resources for component and complete system validation managed using Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
    • Periodically present DVP&R, test results and system validation methods to OEM customers in a concise and professional manner
    • Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
    • Travel to test track, winter test facility, customer demos, and customer facilities to support the application and installation of electronics systems on OEM vehicles
    • Travel to production and supplier facilities to lead and support production facilities launch team as well as support ongoing production inquiries.
    • Support efforts related to product functional safety.
    • Represent Bendix’s interests in professional groups such as SAE
    • Support field troubleshooting calls regarding electronics systems

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a team environment
    • Participation in the FMEA and DVP&R process
    • Detail oriented and driven to complete assigned tasks on time
    • Able to create technical requirements, specifications, and test plans
    • Able to perform technical presentations to OEM customers
    • Knowledge of electronic vehicle control systems preferred
    • Knowledge of air brake systems preferred
    • Knowledge of applicable NHTSA requirements and SAE Recommended Practices preferred
    • Total Quality and Product Safety skills including familiarity with ISO-9001, Six Sigma, SEI-CMM, Functional Safety ISO26262
    • Familiarity with relevant industry organizations such as SAE, SME, IEEE
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members

     

     

    EXPERIENCE: 

     

    • Engineer 1: 0-2+ years of experience in a structed engineering environment
    • Engineer 2: 2-5+ years of experience in a structed engineering environment
    • Engineer 3: 5-7+ years of experience in a structed engineering environment
    • 2+ years of automotive industry or commercial vehicle industry preferred
    • Six Sigma or statistical tool usage capability

     

     

    SKILLS: 

     

    • Familiar with common engineering tools (Bendix – Teamcenter, PTC)
    • Project planning and project management skills to meet critical project deadlines
    • Effective communicating with customers and suppliers
    • Capable of multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities

     

     

    EDUCATION: 

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Systems Engineering required
