    Position Title:      Engineer 2-3, Logistics

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    Lean Logistics Engineer is responsible for leading internal logistics improvement initiatives across Bendix manufacturing and distribution facilities. The key focus will be on optimizing material flow from dock to warehouse to point of consumption by leading the design, engineering and implementation of new material presentation, packaging and material handling technologies.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    • Manage and lead efforts to develop material flow design standards and principles.
    • Partner with Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations functions to develop and implement solutions for optimizing material presentation to maximize flow through plants and line productivity as well as create standards across all facilities.
    • Partner with Logistics Process Lead to document and implement process standards where applicable.
    • Targeted goals include:
    • Reduce material handling waste.
    • Improve labor efficiency.
    • Optimized space utilization.
    • Highly accurate part selection.
    • Oversee concept development, prototype testing, engineering design, and collaboration with 3rd parties on packaging design, integration testing, project management, implementation, and handoff.
    • Promote use of and participate in development of company design and production standards.
    • Identify and drive cost savings projects.
    • Perform Corrective and Preventive Problem Analysis.

     

    KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Strong knowledge of lean material replenishment strategies and internal logistics
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D
    • Knowledge of SAP production and warehouse management processes and functionalities
    • Knowledge about Order-to-Delivery related processes within supply chain (including logistics, manufacturing, finance, etc.)
    • Strong knowledge of various analytical tools to analyze data

     

    EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Minimum of 3-7 years of functional operations experience with focus on internal logistics or manufacturing required
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of continuous improvement / project management experience
    • Proven track record of success required
    • Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification preferred

     

    SKILLS:

     

    • Strong knowledge of and experience with lean material flow strategies.
    • Strong knowledge of material flow methodologies including sequencing, kitting, repack, etc.
    • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts with the ability to lead kaizen efforts for continuous improvement.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to manage several complex projects at the same time with high degrees of variation and uncertainty.
    • Excellent verbal, written, presentation skills with interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and to plan/coordinate processes for results across all organizational levels.

     EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering preferred.
    • MBA or master's degree in supply chain management or logistics a preferred.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications: 

    • Applicants must possess an MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and have or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts Medical License.
    • Applicants must be board certified or be an active candidate for board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
    • Fluency in Spanish, and other languages other than English, is highly desirable, but not required
    • 3+ years post-Residency experience strongly preferred
