    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The primary responsibility of this position is to test M-Series and/or 92-Series steering gears following inspection Q.C.I.’s and process control charts. The individual must be able to work under minimal supervision. Responsibilities cited below are considered essential job functions:

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
    • Responsible for testing either M-Series or 92-Series gears following specifications sheets, to assure the gear is operating at required tolerance levels by using the appropriate indicators such as a torque meter, crack bar, indicator scale, air-tools, overhead crane, and stamps within a specified amount of time
    • Interpret blue prints and specifications sheets on all models of steering gears; change model plates, as required, to conduct test on the different models
    • Communicate to supervisor any information, observation or problems that are different or abnormal with any gear undergoing test. Must be extremely vigilant and question anything that appears unusual, whether or not the gear meets general test specifications
    • Record and document into computer terminal all test information acquired during the course of the test process
    • Other duties as assigned

    Tools Required:

    Hammer, open-end wrenches, adjustable wrenches and shop rule.

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proficient with mechanical tools and measuring equipment including shop rule, torque meters and indicators
    • Communication skills, ability to read, write and comprehend instruction
    • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday
    • Ability to lift items up to 40lbs without assistance
    • Knowledge of shop mathematics (including decimals and fractions), and blue print reading

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    General shop and machine noise, dirt, grease, oil and/or coolants from the operation of machines and equipment. Normal working position is constant standing bending, lifting/moving, twisting, stretching and walking within the plant. The weight can range anywhere from 80 to 140 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required. Use of hoist is required for lifting objects over 40 lbs.

    STANDARD SHIFT HOURS:

    Sunday - Thursday: 10pm - 6am Core Hours + Overtime

    • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.

    • The position will require a hybrid work schedule with remote and in-person work.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years' experience required.
