    Position Title:              Engineer 3-4, Vehicle Controls (Steering)

    Reports To:                 Engineer Manager - Steering Systems

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    This position is responsible for design, development, application, testing, and release of next generation Driver Assistance products (Steering) and features for commercial vehicles. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Assignments will include control system design, product and feature design, requirements definition, cross-product communication interfaces, product testing, and release.
    • Understanding and refining requirements for new driver assistance product opportunities.
    • Model based development of control systems, including bench prototyping and testing all the way to code generation and embedded software for final product validation.
    • Develop and execute technical plans (analysis, simulation, vehicle test) to validate system release and product applications
    • Release of products and documentation pertaining For Active steering system offerings at customers compliant with the Global Change Management process and ASPICE concepts (V-model development, requirements traceability), using tools such as Teamcenter PLM and PTC Integrity
    • Application of next-generation components, functions, and systems.
    • Author technical documentation for driver assistance products, including: test reports and customer-facing specifications for installation, calibration, and service of these systems.
    • Software / Hardware in the loop testing.
    • Benchmark competitive systems.
    • Interface with customers, software developers, systems engineers and management to communicate status of projects.
    • Willing to travel (test track, customer locations, winter test) as required up to 25%.

     

    KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Technical knowledge of Driver Assistance system components (Steering) and impact on overall vehicle performance.
    • Strong knowledge in development toolsets CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe, Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, Python, and TruckSim
    • In-depth knowledge of air brake systems is a plus.
    • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge, preferably related to heavy truck.
    • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols including J1939, UDS, and CCP.
    • Knowledge and experience with product quality tools such as system FMEA, DVP&R, ISO 26262, ASPICE, and Functional Safety Concepts.
    • Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM environment

     

    EXPERIENCE (ENGINEER 3): 

    • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in driver assistance, vehicle dynamics, or vehicles controls engineering.
    • Hands on mechanical, electrical, automotive experience.
    • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and/or automotive market is a plus.
    • Strong product design experience.
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members
    • Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness & capability to obtain CDL within a year of employment.

     EXPERIENCE (ENGINEER 4): 

    • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in driver assistance, vehicle dynamics, or vehicles controls engineering.
    • Hands on mechanical, electrical, automotive experience.
    • Experience in the heavy-duty truck, bus and/or automotive market is a plus.
    • Strong product design and function ownership experience.
    • Ability to technically lead a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members
    • Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness & capability to obtain CDL within a year of employment.

    • Enthusiasm for the Craft Beer world, quality spirits, and wine is a must. 
    • Ability to retain extensive detailed information about food and drinks is important.  (Bartender must be able to convey important facts and flavor notes about a beer when describing it to a guest.) 
    • Should be interested in acting as a ‘sommelier’ for the guest, as opposed to simply slinging drinks
    • Will be trained in detail about food, beer, spirits and wine, and will be expected to be able to retain and provide information when asked or tested.
