National Sales Representative and Market Development Consultant

Turf & Ornamental Chemicals, National Territory

    Don Pritchard - (805) 234-4173 - donp@p5consulting.com

Monthly market-development retainer plus uncapped commission/bonus and reimbursed travel (contact us for details).

    Opportunity Overview

P5 Consulting Services is representing an international crop protection company with operations in 80+ countries with more than 500 distribution partners and nearly 3,000 active product registrations. Leveraging a proven registration engine and cost-efficient molecule pipeline, the firm is now investing in the professional US turf & ornamental market. The goal is to give superintendents, applicators, and distributors a credible value alternative to traditional suppliers.

This role is not about inheriting a territory.?You will architect the national playbook: shaping channel strategy, converting special district and municipal accounts, and feeding real-time market intelligence back to R&D and registration teams.?Your insight will land directly with decision makers, accelerating product tweaks, pricing moves, and future registrations.

If you can turn long-standing relationships into disciplined growth, and you prefer a retainer plus uncapped commission model over big-company layers, this is an opportunity for you to build a national franchise.

    Candidate Career Value Snapshot

    • Turn relationships into equity. Your years of trust with superintendents, applicators, and distributors finally pay you.
    • Write the playbook, don’t follow one. Build a national strategy from scratch instead of protecting someone else’s territory map.
    • Own your calendar and upside. A monthly retainer secures predictable income while uncapped commissions reward the growth you create.
    • Step into national thought-leader visibility as you guide a global company to break into the
      U.S. market.
    • Cut the red tape. Decisions happen with the people on the call.
    • Shape a market chapter that has your name on it and choose when or if you transition later.

      Position Summary

Design and execute a national market-development plan, build distributor and end-user relationships, promote the turf & ornamental portfolio, and steer U.S. growth strategy. Success requires independent drive, disciplined account development, and label-compliant product communication.

      Core Responsibilities

    • Craft and deliver a national market-development plan with defined sales, strategic-account, and channel milestones.
    • Develop sales opportunities for herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and related specialty products used in professional turf & ornamental markets.
    • Build and deepen relationships with golf course superintendents, sports-turf managers, municipal parks, landscape firms, specialty applicators, distributors, and water-management customers.
    • Lead product education, trade events, seasonal campaigns, and distributor promotions.
    • Generate market intelligence on demand trends, competitive products, pricing, and future registration opportunities.
    • Provide technical product-use information only where legally permitted and properly licensed.
    • Support order flow, customer follow-up, and payment coordination as appropriate.
    • Represent the company in relevant trade associations and industry events.

      Ideal Candidate Profile

    • 10+ years in T&O, specialty chemical, aquatics, or agronomy sales (15+ preferred for senior candidates).
    • Credibility with golf, sports turf, distributor, municipal, aquatic, or landscape customers.
    • Working knowledge of weeds, diseases, insects, application timing, rotation, resistance management, and label-compliant use.
    • Proven success opening accounts, building channels, and managing a national/multi-state territory independently.
    • Comfort with 1099 economics, travel, and performance accountability.

      Leadership Style That Will Fit

Entrepreneurial, disciplined, and commercially mature. Credible with technical customers without overselling. Self-directed yet collaborative enough to protect brand and channel relationships.
