    Job Title: Senior Scientist (Chemist)

    Salary Range: Starting at $90,000 minimum commensurate on credentials and experience

    Supervisor: Research Director for Chemical Defense

    Position Summary:

    The Senior Chemist position will be responsible for providing support for countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) research programs in support of Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Government (USG) sponsors. This includes direct support to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) research projects, with a focus on chemical defense programs. Responsibilities will include the facilitation of projects focused across multiple aspects of chemical defense including chemical detection, protection, and decontamination, while directly collaborating with NSRI staff and other entities within the CWMD community.

    Primary place of duty will be the NSRI office in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. Secondary places of duty and travel requirements will be based on contractual, and project needs and may include NSRI facilities in Melbourne, Florida and Fredericksburg, Virginia; along with USG facilities as required by contract requirements. Periodical travel to NSRI and University of Nebraska facilities and campuses in Nebraska is also anticipated.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    · Provide technical contributions as a senior scientist regarding all aspects of chemical defense and participate as a member of a team to accomplish all stated and implied project related tasks.

    · Develop chemical defense research, development, and testing capabilities at both NSRI and partner facilities to aid in the building of long-term strategic resources and the facilitation of immediate project needs.

    · Collaborate directly with project sponsors, stakeholders, University of Nebraska staff, and NSRI staff to develop and execute project plans, timelines, and strategies to facilitate successful completion of project goals.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    · Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering from an accredited university or college

    · Five or more years of experience in CWMD-related research programs

    · Experienced with analytical chemical sample analysis

    · Excellent written and oral skills

    · Excellent organizations skills and record-keeping

    · Experienced in working as part of a multi-functional team in a chemical laboratory

    · The position requires that the employee be eligible and maintain eligibility for a US government security clearance and must be a US citizen.

    Desired Qualifications:

    · Advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering
