    Job Description

    The Staff Fixed Asset Accountant analyzes, maintains and administers the Company's fixed asset and capital spending programs and software. This position is also accountable for recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, maintaining existing fixed assets and handling all dispositions and transfers of fixed assets. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? THE SPECIFICS.

    • Maintains the fixed asset system for new acquisitions as well as modifications to existing assets such as transfers, disposals, impairment and accelerated depreciation for multiple companies, which include over 1000 retail vision stores, 4 manufacturing labs and several office departments.
    • Maintains and reconciles capital projects (CIP).
    • Communicates with other department heads on a monthly basis to determine timing of project - ready for capitalization or finished.
    • Reviews and approves capital invoices from various departments for proper coding and sales/use tax calculations prior to forwarding to AP for payment processing.
    • Ensures the Company’s capitalization policy is being followed.
    • Ensures documentation is properly completed, setups and maintains capital projects as well as budgets in the accounting system.
    • Completes purchase order receiving for capital assets.
    • Prepares monthly standard journal entries such as depreciation expense; reserve, accruals.
    • Reconciles monthly the sub ledger and general ledger as well as other accounts.
    • Reconciles the CIP accounts and other fixed asset accruals at month end. Researches and resolves any material variances.
    • Prepares monthly reporting for department heads and leadership team.
    • Prepares inventory allocations to various stores/departments and inventory month end reconciliations (physical count to system count).
    • Works with external auditors to provide requested audit schedules, documentation and support on a quarterly basis.
    • On a monthly basis, maintains SOX documentation on specific tasks.

    • 5-7 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
