Job Description

Nations Info Corp. is looking for a Staff Software Engineer who will be a key member of our development team working on our core products. This position will report directly to the VP of Engineering. The qualified candidate will work in a fun and fast-paced environment where time to market is key. The Staff Software Engineer will help lead the design of the next generation of platforms that enable business to create scalable and efficient solutions. The Staff Engineer will help drive the move to a highly available cloud architecture, processing fast and resilient payments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build distributed enterprise platforms
• Prototype new solutions for complex software problems and implement them for on premise and cloud deployments and use cases
• Work with wider engineering team on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of core products
• Be a technical subject matter expert, provide technical leadership and share your expertise with a growing team of engineers
• Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing and driving best practices for coding, testing, and deployment
• Work within existing development team and master existing code base
• Capable of designing and documenting complex features, with minimal supervision
• Ability to take substantial features from concept to production as a sole developer
• Identify existing components that can be improved and ability to carry out improvement
• Provide feedback on the work of junior developers and developers.
• Work closely with IT to ensure efficient and stable builds
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Identify, document and communicate technical issues and risks across teams

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of hands-on Software Development experience on large scale distributed systems, with the last 5-7+ years in Java, and 2+ years experience working as a tech lead
• Experience in building transactional systems (preferably in payments / banking / e-commerce domains) , backed by an RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle or MS SQL Server)
• Strong relational database knowledge & experience working directly with sql and persistence technologies such as Hibernate
• Solid knowledge of web technologies and Java application servers, in a high availability cluster configuration
• Working knowledge or experience using Node.js and caching technologies (ehcache, memcache, redis) is a plus
• Experience in AWS / Google cloud using containers such as Kubernetes or Docker is preferred.
• Solid understanding and experience with multiple version control systems (svn, git, etc)
• Self-motivated, well-organized and detail oriented
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline is preferred
