MISSION
The Mission of Native American LifeLines is to promote health and social resiliency within Urban American Indian communities. Native American LifeLines applies principles of trauma informed care to provide culturally centered behavioral health, dental, outreach and referral services.
AGENCY OVERVIEW
Native American Lifelines Inc. (NAL) is a small nonprofit community-based agency in Baltimore, MD, with an additional service location in Boston, MA. NAL serves American Indians/Alaskan Natives, primarily providing health education, health promotion, case management, substance abuse counseling, dental services, transportation, and support groups.
NAL has an annual operating budget of approximately $2.4million, a staff of 10-15 full time employees, various contractors and 3-5 behavioral health intern/externs. Our program is part of a network of 42 Urban Indian Health Organizations nationally and a member of the National Council of Urban Indian Health. NAL’s substance use & mental health outpatient treatment program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Clerk collaborates with the Finance Manager and Finance Director to ensure that Native American LifeLines maintains sound fiscal health and upholds its responsibilities to all federal, state, independent, and private vendors, funders, and stakeholders. This position provides day-to-day support to the Finance Department and predominantly manages Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable. As our agency continues to adapt to changing needs, the fiscal clerk will devise a system for proactively addressing regular payments to critical vendors, coordinate office purchasing, and manage receipt and acknowledgment of donations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Coordinating accounts payable, processing requests, and making payments in a timely manner
Processing billing, payments, and donations with appropriate follow up
End of month reconciliation of requests and payments/purchases
Processing departmental mail
Preparing deposits in coordination with the Finance Manager
Handling petty cash as necessary
Recording and reporting Square/Stripe donations and payments
Completing purchasing/assisting staff in purchasing for both the Baltimore and Boston locations
Printing checks to prepare for signing

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
OR Associates Degree with 2+ years of experience in accounts payable/accounts receivable
Preferred Qualifications
Non-profit finance experience
Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities
Familiarity with United States Code 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance)
TELEWORK/REMOTE WORK
This position is eligible for limited telework after 90 days, or situationally as determined by leadership. Some travel between NAL service locations in Baltimore and Boston is required. All work-related travel will be paid for by NAL.
HOURS
Business hours are Monday - Friday 9am – 5pm. Some evenings and weekends are required.
