EDUCATION ‧ QUALIFICATIONS
Naturopathic Medicine degree; state license; Certificate to Dispense; DEA number; already have or be in the process of obtaining NPI number and CAQH profile. Must carry malpractice insurance through an approved agency that covers full scope of practice. Clinical experience preferred but new graduates are welcome.
KNOWLEDGE ‧ SKILLS ‧ABILITIES
A successful NMD candidate will combine their knowledge of medicine with compassion for others to help their patients achieve better health and well-being. They diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases using a system of practice on the natural healing capacity of individuals.
Qualified candidates value continued education and regularly read reports and attend certification courses to hone their naturopathic skills. Further, NMD candidates have a personable nature that helps patients feel comfortable with them.
Possess the ability to train on personal injury processes, work independently, and multi-task; emotional intelligence; HIPAA compliance (electronic Personal Health Information); must be able to function in a fast-paced environment; positive attitude; strong work ethic; Microsoft Office 365; ChiroSpring.
Bilingual English/Spanish language is not required, but is beneficial.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
On a typical day, a Naturopathic Medical Doctor starts by reviewing their appointment schedule and looking over patient files to refresh their memory. Throughout the day, they greet patients, ask about their symptoms or progress, take X-rays (if applicable), and create a plan of treatment for them.
They perform a range of therapies that are used to support patients, including, but not limited to, acupuncture; cold laser therapy; family medicine; general nutrition and wellness counseling; holistic medicine; homeopathy; hormone replacement; manipulations; pain management; perineural, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and prolotherapy injections (not required, but considered a plus); supplementation; and weight loss.
NMDs also recommend other health care professionals if the patient’s needs are outside the scope of their practice. They may also instruct their patients on home treatment methods; prescribe them with medications, if appropriate; and help ensure that patients are actively kept on the schedule.
In between appointments, they send/respond to emails concerning patient referrals; prepare/sign off on SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) notes for their previous appointments; and other internal communications.
This is not an exclusive list of job duties. Candidates will be expected to handle other tasks, based on business needs.
OFFICE HOURS
Business is open Monday to Friday, 9am – 7pm; Saturday, 9am – 12pm.
