    Job Description

    Engineering Intern will ensure accurate component specification in the design and development of products with the supervision of the Senior Product Engineer and any other duties that would be assigned.  This position will focus on various tasks, including developing jigs and fixtures required for the successful integration of products into production, BOM collection on new builds, modeling of simple and complex parts, and creating work instructions. 

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Define and design component specifications for mechanical systems from design through manufacturing completion.
    •  Develop jigs and fixtures required to locate, install, or support components in production accurately and repeatably.  Depending on the project's needs, this can include small or large fiberglass parts, machined metal components, upholstery substrates, and various other components.
    • Generate engineering models, drawings, and Bills of Material for new designs.
    • Approve mechanical models and drawings for release.
    • Generate engineering change notices as required.
    • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new products, programs, and strategies.
    •  Ensure and acquire component and system compliance with industry standards.
    • Evaluate vendor-supplied items for their suitability regarding fit, finish, and performance for Nautique products.
    • Certification of products to include USCG and NMMA standards.
    • Supervision of compliance testing, whether completed in-house an outside contractor.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
    • 3D CAD Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks
    • 1-2 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to manage own work without direct supervision
    • Excellent organization and project management skills
    • Strategic mindset with solid technical and analytical ability
    • Must have a valid driver's license (subject to MVR)

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Experience in the marine industry
    • Watersports and/or boating experience
    • Ability to trailer a boat
    • Desire to work in a “hands-on” environment

    PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
    • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary.
    • This is a safety-sensitive position.
