The Staff Accountant Associate fully owns projects in their respective area and will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities in a timely and efficient manner. The Staff Accountant coordinates payroll processing and manages the company's General Ledger. This role also assists the Finance & Accounting Manager in managing outside vendor relationships for finance-related services, such as tax professionals, insurance providers, etc.

    **Duties & Responsibilities: ******

    • Oversees all aspects of the accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close procedures.

    • Lead Payroll and Retirement Plan contribution processor, including initiating computer processing, verifying entry information, resolving any discrepancies, as well as ensuring payroll is fully submitted upon approval. Multi-state payroll experience highly preferred.

    • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and related journal entries.

    • Responsible for managing QuickBooks account & job setups when new contracts are awarded and/or option years change over.

    • Maintains and prepares Joint Venture and Direct Project financial statements by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

    • Supports internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and explanations as required.

    • Assist in tax planning, compliance, and filing activities ensuring adherence to tax regulations.

    • Coordinates with software vendors as needed to maintain various accounting software systems as well as provide training to the Accounting team on various trouble-shooting issues.

    • Responsible for the review and approval of Travel & Expense reports to ensure policy compliance and prompt payment.

    • Supports Finance & Accounting Manager in identifying and researching accounting compliance requirements, interpreting regulations, and recommending adjustments to accounting practices accordingly.

    • Mentor and support junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed to promote professional development and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

    • Identifies potential gaps within accounting department processes and recommends effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

    • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

    • Highly proficient with accounting software. QuickBooks experience preferred.

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    **Education & Experience ****


    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.

    • Five years of accounting experience required, federal contractor experience including DCAA & FAR Audit and Compliance highly
    preferred.
