Summer is a great time for children to play, discover and explore! Near North Montessori’s Summer @NNM Camp is designed to stimulate campers' minds, bodies and spirits to create lasting memories while strengthening their skills and interests in a Montessori environment. WE ARE SEEKING CANDIDATES FOR OUR CAMP COUNSELOR POSITIONS TO WORK IN OUR SUMMER CAMP AND GUIDE AND SUPPORT OUR CAMPERS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER!

Summer Camp @ NNM runs from mid-June - starting with training and preparation before campers arrive on June 20th through August 11th 2023. Multiple shifts are available, including:  8:15am-3:45pm; 12-6pm; or 3-6pm. In your application please be sure to indicate your preferred shift when you get to those questions. 

Our camp staff is one of a kind and committed to creating great summer memories for the kids here. Not only is this a chance to connect with kids and become the Arts and Crafts Pro or Game Leader Extraordinaire, but you can gain or sharpen your skills in communication, teamwork, group management, and conflict resolution. By joining our summer team, you will get a chance to work side by side with the wonderful Montessori educators to help create an unforgettable camp experience.

CAMP COUNSELORS are responsible for working with summer instructors and other camp leaders to support fun activities with NNM campers throughout the day. Safety is the first priority so ensuring students are safe and cared for is key. Counselors will also help set up and clean up spaces, support transitions and much more! A full job description will be provided to candidates. This is a great role for anyone who has worked in a camp, loves to babysit, or just enjoys teaching and playing with kids.

Qualifications

For camp counselors candidates, we are looking for:

• Genuine love for and interest in working with children and/or education
• Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and enthusiasm each day
• Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks 
• Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Great communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be at least 16 years of age by June 12, 2023

CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required. General safety and other related training will be provided.
