    Job Description

    Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore (NHS) is a well-established non-profit organization with a team-oriented work environment. NHS of Baltimore’s mission is to spark renewed vitality in neighborhoods by engaging our community partners, increasing sustainable homeownership, and advancing capital solutions.  We are looking for a Resource Development Coordinator to join our growing team in Baltimore, Maryland.

     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Resource Development Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Resource Development to plan and implement the organization’s annual fundraising objectives.  Major responsibilities include proposal development and grant writing to support operational and capital funding goals, coordinating annual giving appeals, grant reporting, and gift acknowledgement and tracking. The position will coordinate with NHS Homebuying Center, Homeownership Preservation, and Comprehensive Community Development staff members to identify program needs, prepare grant proposals, and manage reporting requirements.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Research public and private grant opportunities to identify potential funding for operations and capital projects
    • Assist in developing and writing grant proposals including establishing timelines and task deadlines
    • Assist in developing annual appeals to institutional partners and individual donors
    • Track funding awards and donor contributions
    • Assist in preparing and maintaining a Resource Development calendar with grant and reporting deadlines
    • Prepare grant reports in coordination with program and finance departments
    • Prepare donor thanks and gift acknowledgements
    • Establish a grant tracking system in conjunction with department Directors to ensure pacing to meet grant goals
    • Coordinate with NHS program and marketing staff to capture customer stories and organizational successes
    • Assist in development of annual fundraising plan and strategies
    • Cultivate external relationships to promote NHS
    • Perform additional tasks or assist with special projects as assigned or needed

     SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Three to five years of grant writing, fund raising, community development, non-profit, or related social service experience
    • One to three years of grant and/or proposal writing experience required
    • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong document review and editing skills
    • Basic understanding of program planning and budgeting
    • Excellent organizational skills.  Ability to effectively prioritize and manage tasks and projects with competing demands and deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal and rapport building skills
    • Professional presentation and demeanor
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to gather critical information and develop solutions to resolve identified or anticipated problems
    • Ability to work independently
    • Familiarity with Baltimore communities preferred
    • Commitment to working as a team member to meet overall NHS objectives
    • Strong commitment to organizational mission and values

    TECHNICAL SKILLS

    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with CRM Salesforce or donor tracking software, is a plus

    EDUCATION

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, smart phones, office phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.
