SENIOR PROPERTY CONTROLLER
Based in Salt Lake City, UT or San Clemente, CA
We are seeking an experienced and detailed oriented Senior Property Controller to become an integral part of our winning team! You will oversee financial activities and personnel as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency. We are looking for a leader to be over our accounting team!
We are willing to pay a competitive salary for the ideal candidate. For this position the compensation will range between $125K to $165K based on experience.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
Ensures that all local financial analysis, inventory and fixed asset systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and compliance with GAAP, high integrity of reports and tight internal controls and applicable regulations.
Prepare periodic financial and statistical reports as required by local and corporate management and assist departmental managers with inventory analysis.
Ensures month-end close deadlines are met while ensuring accurate and timely preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements.
Play a prominent role in monthly P&L and B/S variance analysis; assist operations team with analysis and coding. Monitor income, costs, and capital expenditures.
Assure accurate and timely compliance with reporting requirements to banks and preferred lenders
Take a lead role in preparing partnership quarterly reports
Oversee CapEx draws; assure timely submission and funding to support company cash flow
Work with Investor relations team to assure timely execution of monthly distributions
Develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls; assure strong internal controls specifically related to cash
Prepare accurate long and short-term cash flow forecasts; monitor and report in a timely manner
Work collaboratively with team members in accounting and other departments to prepare annual budgets
Partner with CEO and senior management to define and execute a sound strategic plan to maximize the company’s profitability and cash flow
Collaborate with all levels of management to ensure company-wide understanding and utilization of financial information to make sound business decisions
Manages, motivates, and develops a team of accounting professionals by providing proper coaching, training, and mentorship through the hiring of top talent.
Monitor impound escrows, assure funds are adequate to cover property taxes and insurance
Our Ideal Candidate
This is a hands-on position, a 360 role that calls for senior level experience in Accounting. In return for a competitive compensation package, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
CPA designation is required
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related technical field
Minimum 8-10 years of accounting experience
4 years in a leadership role
Real Estate accounting experience/background required
Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with Financial Statement Consolidations
Experienced in coordinating with outside CPAs regarding GAAP Audits & Tax Returns
Student Housing and/or Entrata accounting software experience a plus
