    Job Description

    Overview

    A large, high-acuity acute care hospital in Austin, Texas is seeking an experienced NICU Nurse Manager to provide evening-shift leadership for a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

    This role is responsible for operational oversight, staff performance, patient safety, and clinical quality for a high-volume NICU with complex neonatal populations. Strong Charge Nurse or Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) NICU leaders will be considered.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and oversight for daily NICU operations during evening hours

    • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based neonatal nursing care

    • Monitor staffing, acuity-based assignments, and workflow to support optimal patient outcomes

    • Promote compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional nursing standards

    • Support admissions, transfers, and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput

    • Foster effective interdisciplinary collaboration across neonatal, maternal, and pediatric services

    • Lead patient experience initiatives and reinforce accountability for service excellence

    • Utilize quality and satisfaction data to identify improvement opportunities

    • Support staff development, coaching, and competency validation

    • Ensure equipment readiness and compliance with regulatory maintenance standards

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • BSN required

    • Active Texas RN license or compact RN license

      • Compact license holders must apply for Texas licensure within required timeframes
    • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in an acute care setting

    • Minimum 3–5 years of overall healthcare experience

    • BLS certification

    Required Within 6 Months of Hire:

    • Specialty nursing certification relevant to role

    Preferred:

    • ACLS

    • NICU, L&D, or Women’s Services certifications such as NRP, FHM, or RNC-OB

    • Prior leadership experience in a Level III NICU

    Considered:

    • Experienced NICU Charge Nurses or CNCs ready to step into a manager role

    • Average daily census: ~75 patients

    • Oversight of approximately 150 FTEs
