Description RMLS is the FAA’s logging system for recording maintenance work performed on facilities in the National Airspace System (NAS). RMLS provides a rich database of unstructured text, reading every log file.
Works independently under general guidelines and objectives. Highly technical computer scientist with expertise in NAS programs and its state-of-the-art systems. Applicable functional areas include superior proficiency and knowledge of the NAS system hardware and software, knowledge of FAA procedural requirements, real-time design and development, testing and interface of software and computer hardware systems, regression impact analysis, reliability, maintainability, human factors, standardization and other reengineering regarding FAA missions and NAS systems. Perform system-wide analysis sand functional allocations, business process modeling and reengineering, internal operating systems, databases, and network architectures. Using prescribed methods and information furnished, develops draft inputs to program documentation as it relates to any of the support functions. Performs assignments on a broad range of tasks associated with the implementation of standards techniques, procedures, and criteria as they apply to technical tasks. Develops new technology, modifies the structure of existing software products, and provides technical guidance to complex projects. Reviews final draft documents for conformity to requirements and completeness. Tracks preparation and delivery status of required deliverables. Attends and may lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings. Reports issues and problems and recommends solutions. Performs other related duties in line with tasks assignments. Experience in project management may be required. OR Provides expertise in developing and updating web applications including HTML 5/XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, SQL, JSON technologies. Must be able to implement full stack web development and/or model-view-controller architecture. Familiarity with object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and UNIX/Linux skills maybe required. OR Provides expertise in a specific technical area defined by the government that is not readily available in the other defined categories and is pertinent to Technical Operations maintenance of NAS.
Responsibilities
Develop, build, deploy software changes using .Net Core, MVC, ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
Ability to use AJAX and Web Service
Write PL/SQL Scripts and queries for Oracle DB procedures
Develops new features and modifies the structure of existing software products
Work within an agile team to support software development and test under agile methodology
Troubleshoot application problems
Provide support for the deployment of the applications
Provide field support
Qualifications
B.S. in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twelve to fifteen (12-15) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field OR
Master’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and nine to twelve (9-12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field
PhD or Doctorial Degree in a related field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad, grad study, or a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and nine to twelve (9-12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field
Permanent Residency/Green Card (with 3 years residing/working in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation
Technical Proficiencies

This position requires for work to be performed at the William J Hughes Technical Center in New Jersey and may require occasional travel all around the US when scheduling dictates or at management discretion.
