    Functional Area Expert II

    Clearance Level: US Citizen with active Secret clearance

    Location: Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD

    Hours: Monday – Friday, normal business hours

    Hybrid Eligible: Yes, subject to agency policy

    Travel: Up to 25%

    Roles/Responsibilities:

    In the role of Functional Area Expert II , you will leverage your expertise to:

    · Apply deep knowledge of business, functional, and technical disciplines to support complex project requirements.

    · Conduct specialized research on unique or niche functional areas to inform program strategy.

    · Propose and develop innovative solutions to complex problems within your specific area of functional expertise.

    · Perform high-level analysis both independently and as a collaborative member of a technical team.

    · Provide expert-level guidance to project leadership regarding industry best practices and emerging functional trends.

    · Bridge the gap between technical capabilities and business requirements to ensure mission success.

    · Develop robust, reliable, and efficient software (e.g., Python, C++) to control and interact with HAIPE devices. This includes developing APIs for automated testing and configuration, as well as a user-friendly graphical interface.

    · Create a scalable and maintainable software architecture (e.g., microservices) to support future device iterations and feature additions.

    · Implement comprehensive testing procedures (unit tests, integration tests, system tests) to ensure software quality and device functionality.

    · Ensure all code will be version controlled and adhere to established coding standards.

    Requirements:

    · Education: Bachelor's Degree; Degree in engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline is required.

    · Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in a specific functional, business, or technical area.

    · Education Substitution: Eight (8) additional years of related experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.

    · Technical Skills: Advanced research capabilities and a proven track record of proposing and implementing solutions for complex functional challenges.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    · Experience working within a DoD Program Executive Office (PEO), Project Manager (O6 PM), or Product Manager (O5 PdM) environment.

    · Strong ability to communicate terminology unique to the discipline to non-technical stakeholders.

    · Experience in gathering and compiling information for analysis based on discussions with operational staff and technical documentation.
