  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for day-to-day support and operation of the company's network environment. Provides network equipment and component installation and relocation as required: maintains and updates network documentation and ensures that support procedures are executed properly and in a timely manner. The goal is to maximize the users' efficiency with regard to the use of network technology. Position is remote, and we prefer that the candidates live in the greater Madison, WI area. Responsibilities: • Prepares for network equipment, components, and/or software installation by studying the product, its operation, and system requirements. • Experience with the administration of server operating systems and applications, to include Windows, Linux, and VMWare. • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory policy management. • Install and configure network equipment, components, and/or software products by loading and configuring product to network according to the manufacturer’s instructions; testing the product; minimizing impact to the end user. • Ensures the operation of hardware and software by following the manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new hardware/software and techniques. • Detects and corrects network stoppage and errors by conducting tests; monitoring output; contacting third party technical support; implementing the solution. • Develop and maintain infrastructure environment and procedural documentation. • Maintains historical records by documenting network hardware and software changes and revisions. • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance. • Resolve end-user problems by responding to problem in a timely manner; answering questions; interpreting operating instructions; providing references, identifying and participating in training opportunities. • Documents problems and actions by completing the help desk software problem logs. • Maintains network documentation by developing and updating network support procedures; maintaining license agreements; developing and updating the Rural personal computing policy; tracking and securely storing inventory. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by providing service with a positive attitude, keeping information confidential. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Minimum of three years experience in network support related positions. • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, • Working knowledge of PC, server hardware and peripherals. • Knowledge of Linux-based command line and/or containerization is a plus. • Experience implementing and working with internet/intranet products preferred. • Experience performing in project driven and self-motivated environment preferred. • Experience presenting information in reports, graphs, written, and oral formats preferred. • Experience working directly with the end user community preferred. • Knowledge and understanding of the insurance business and the products of Rural Insurance preferred. Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 yearly based on experience

    $90,000-$100,000 per year
