    Position Title: Geodata Technician

    Salary Band: Tier 1

    Reporting to: US Operations Manager

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Geodata Technicians are responsible for flight planning, post-processing, data quality and data management in the office and field.

    ● Assist as directed in planning activities such as the preparation of flight plans for LiDAR and oblique surveys.

    ● Review project information, risk assessment and method statement and aerial survey plan prior to deployment to site.

    ● Engage in project and safety briefings prior to work start and during the daily toolbox talk.

    ● Work in the field carrying out the Initial Data Processing (IDP) workflows on aerial acquisition (trajectories, LiDAR ranges, nadir and oblique imagery) ensuring data is fit for purpose.

    ● Communicate data quality and coverage information to the project team daily clearly reporting the details of any potential issues to assist in the decision on the need for a re-flights, calibration or further ground checks.

    ● Be responsible for data management in the field and delivery of data to the Technology Center in the UK.

    ● On a daily basis, issue completed data and reporting to the project group and update any tracking documents as required.

    ● Carry out Onward Data Processing (ODP) workflows as directed (including trajectory processing, system calibrations, image development, GTS DXF generation) and publish data for processing team production workflows.

    ● Download and quality assure data collected in the field and prepare associated quality reports.

    ● Assist with data queries from production teams and escalate where required.

    Prerequisites:

    ● Degree qualified in relevant field (e.g. Geomatics, Surveying, Remote Sensing) or have at least 1 years direct industry experience.

    ● Ability to travel and work away for long period at short notice.

    ● No travel restrictions/criminal record.

    ● Full Clean US drivers license (held for + 1 year).

    Expected Discipline Knowledge and Skills:

    ● Competent in the use of industry standard post-processing software for LiDAR and imaging aerial data (Dashmap, LMS, Terra Suite, Capture One, Leica Framepro).

    ● Ability to create flight-plans using standard software.

    ● Ability to post-process trajectories from a position and orientation system (POS).

    ● Ability to calibrate scanner systems from a calibration flight and output point-clouds from LiDAR range data.

    ● Ability to calibrate imaging systems from a calibration flight and develop imagery for onwards post-processing.

    ● Basic understanding of the fundamental working principals of aerial survey systems and position an orientation technologies.

    ● Basic understanding of aerial survey methodology and post-processing techniques.

    ● Basic understanding of sensor parameters and their function (both LiDAR and imaging systems).

    ● Basic understanding of fundamental survey concepts such as datum, projections, geoids and coordinate systems.

    ● Familiarity of safe working practices in the field.

    ● IT literate including Outlook and Excel.

    ● In consideration of the demands of a Field Operations role; candidates must inform NM Group of any medical or other conditions which may require additional support from NM Group to successfully discharge that role.

    Salary: $50,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience

    Team Description

    The US Field Operations team is responsible for planning, capturing and delivering geospatial data to the production teams for further processing. The team will work from project briefs to prepare survey plans and schedules to meet specifications and deadlines in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. The team works on a flexible basis both in the office an in the field to ensure global operations are provided with the necessary support.
