We're Hiring: Network Security Engineer (Hybrid | Annapolis, MD)
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to support a long-term (5-year) contract focused on designing, implementing, and securing enterprise network environments. This is a hybrid role with a mix of on-site and remote work.
Location: Annapolis, MD
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days on-site / 2 days remote; expanded remote possible after 6 months)
⏰ Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM ET
****Role Overview
The Network Security Engineer will play a critical role in planning, designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and resilient 24x7 network operations. This position works closely with engineering teams to modernize network security platforms and ensure defense-in-depth solutions.
✅ Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in an IT-related field
- Active certifications:
- Palo Alto Networks PCNSA or Network Security Professional
- Cisco CCNA Enterprise or CCNA Security
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT networking and security experience (U.S.-based)
- Advanced certifications (active or expired within 3 years), such as:
- Palo Alto PCNSE / NGFW Engineer / Network Security Analyst
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security
****Key Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, and implement secure network solutions
- Lead or support migrations from legacy security platforms to next-gen technologies
- Troubleshoot critical network security issues and threat remediation
- Develop technical documentation, diagrams, and implementation plans
- Support capacity planning, monitoring, and operational improvements
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to team members
- Deliver weekly status reports and host status meetings
****Preferred Technical Experience
- Palo Alto NGFW, IDS/IPS, VPNs, Content Filtering, TLS/SSL Inspection
- Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and ISE/NAC
- Reverse proxies & load balancing (A10 preferred)
- MFA, PKI, micro-segmentation, cloud networking
- Routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
- Tools: Panorama, SolarWinds, Nessus, NMAP, Wireshark
