About the Role

Torus is seeking a Network Security Engineer to help design, implement, and monitor a secure, distributed energy-management network. This role is highly technical and hands-on. You will be responsible for deploying, managing, and monitoring network gear, collecting and analyzing logs, data, and metric. In addition, you will be helping to design and develop an effective security information and event management system (SIEM).

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with other teams to collect requirements and support a rapidly evolving and growing product.
• Defining network and security perimeter configuration using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and helping to scale templates and configurations across multiple systems.
• Building and operating a secure management network.
• Evaluating and remediating security threats.
• Work closely with the internal engineering team and external engineering experts, as needed.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Experience

• 2-5+ years experience working in networking and security.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT technology, Computer Science, cybersecurity or related technical field.
• Deep understanding of IP based networks and best practices for design and management.
• Hands-on experience configuring and monitoring firewalls.
• Hands-on experience managing AWS security and network technologies.
• Proven experience as a self-driven engineer.
• Experience working to timelines and communicating with the team.
• Hands on problem-solver.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Terraform or other IaC tools.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Experience with Tailscale or other zero trust networks.
• Experience with distributed networking solutions like Forinet, Cisco, Meraki, and Ubiquiti.
• Experience with Cloudflare, AWS Cloudfront or other edge WAF systems.
• Experience with security vulnerability scanning and/or penetration-testing solutions.

Experience Bachelor’s degree in IT technology, Computer Science, cybersecurity or related technical field. Experience may be evaluated in place of education.

Location + Travel The role is hybrid remote based in our South Salt Lake Headquarters Warehouse (air-conditioned) and some remote work. May require occasional onsite work in Springville R&D warehouse (air-conditioned and non air-conditioned).

Schedule Full-Time, Salaried

Compensation $100,000 - 125,000 (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the corresponding pay range.)

Physical Requirements

• Constantly operates a computer and other peripheral office equipment such as a printer or mouse.
• Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, safety-toed boots, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
• Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Must report to work reliably and with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
