    Networking Engineer (MSP – Projects & Escalations)

    The Networking Engineer is a critical member of our service delivery team, responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network environments while supporting escalations and ensuring a seamless IT experience for our clients. This role requires a strong foundation in firewall configuration, VPN performance, and networking best practices , paired with excellent communication skills and a client-first mindset. You’ll take ownership of project-based networking initiatives, resolve advanced escalations, and mentor junior staff — all within a dynamic MSP environment.

    What You’ll Do

    Network & Security Troubleshooting & Resolution:

    • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot firewalls (Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, Palo Alto, etc.) to meet client security and compliance standards.

    • Diagnose and resolve VPN latency issues , ensuring optimal performance for remote users.

    • Support escalations from Tier 1 & 2 technicians involving network-related issues (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching).

    • Identify root causes of recurring network issues and implement permanent solutions.

    • Provide both remote and on-site support for critical networking incidents.

    Project Execution:

    • Lead or assist with project work including firewall upgrades, VPN implementations, network redesigns, and migrations.

    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Service Managers to deliver scope within deadlines.

    • Identify risks or blockers during project execution and provide mitigation strategies.

    • Document project tasks, network diagrams, and SOPs to ensure repeatable success.

    Escalation & Mentorship:

    • Act as a networking subject matter expert for escalated issues.

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to Service Desk technicians.

    • Escalate to senior engineering resources when necessary, providing full documentation and analysis.

    Documentation & Continuous Improvement:

    • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in ConnectWise, Hudu, and other knowledge bases.

    • Proactively flag recurring network performance issues and propose improvements.

    • Contribute to the development of SOPs for network-related support.

    Client Engagement:

    • Deliver professional and empathetic communication with clients through phone, email, and ticketing systems.

    • Keep clients informed with timely updates on project and escalation progress.

    • Build trust by resolving networking challenges efficiently while ensuring SLA compliance.

    Qualifications

    Technical Background:

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in networking roles within an MSP or service-provider environment.

    • Strong expertise in firewall configuration (Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, Palo Alto, etc.).

    • Proven experience troubleshooting VPN latency and connectivity issues.

    • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing protocols, switching, and network security best practices.

    • Proficient with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and server/network integrations.

    • Experience with RMM/PSA tools such as ConnectWise Manage, Automate, or Autotask preferred.

    • Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+/Security+, or Fortinet NSE are highly valued.

    Soft Skills:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced MSP environment.

    • Team-oriented with mentoring capabilities.

    • Highly organized, detail-focused, and service-driven.

    Work Schedule & Location

    • Standard 8am–5pm EST schedule.

    • Rotating on-call coverage for critical network escalations.

    • Hybrid role, reporting to company HQ in Abington, PA for scheduled shifts.
