Job Summary
PJ Networks is looking for an experienced Network Systems Engineer to join our team as a Field Engineer. You’ll be assigned a portfolio of clients and serve as their trusted technology partner, responsible for the design, installation, and support their business network infrastructure and security.
This isn't a "fix it and forget it" role. Our engineers build lasting relationships with their clients, proactively improving their technology environments and helping drive their business success. You'll work closely with our help desk, remote monitoring, and dispatch teams to ensure every client receives responsive, high-quality service.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary engineer for an assigned portfolio of clients
Design, implement, and maintain client network infrastructure including servers, firewalls, switches, and wireless systems
Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, and Intune
Configure and manage firewalls and switches, including VLANs, NAT rules, VPN tunnels, and security policies
Support Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services)
Deploy and configure workstations, laptops, and peripherals for client staff
Manage data backup and disaster recovery solutions
Provide on-site and remote support, prioritized based on urgency and client needs
Document configurations, procedures, and client environments thoroughly
Communicate proactively with clients about issues, projects, and recommendations
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency support
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of 5 years as a Network Systems Engineer or Network Administrator, or 3+ years working for a Managed Services Provider
Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016–2025)
Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 tenants and services
Experience configuring and managing firewalls and switches (Sophos experience a plus)
Experience with data backup and disaster recovery platforms
Experience with desktop/laptop support across current Windows operating systems
Outstanding client-facing communication and relationship management skills
Positive attitude, team mentality, and a willingness to learn
Reliable transportation for commuting to client sites (company vehicle available after 90-day probationary period)
Preferred:
Previous MSP or IT consulting experience
Current Microsoft certifications (or willingness to obtain within one year of hire)
Experience with Microsoft Azure, Hyper-V, or VMware virtualization
Experience with VOIP phone systems
Familiarity with Linux, Cisco, or Ubiquiti hardware
Experience with RMM and PSA tools (ConnectWise, Datto, etc.)
