Job Title: New-vehicle Salesperson
Department: Sales Reports To: Sales Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary
The New-Vehicle Salesperson is responsible for selling new automobiles in accordance with dealership gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction standards. This role requires compliance with all applicable legal and ethical standards governing automotive sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Meet or exceed monthly vehicle sales targets.
Assist customers with vehicle selection, product features, pricing, and financing options.
Conduct test drives in accordance with dealership policy.
Complete accurate sales paperwork and process transactions in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and participate in required training.
Collaborate with sales, finance, and service departments to ensure a smooth customer experience.
Ensure all sold vehicles are prepared for delivery and that customers understand vehicle features, warranties, and maintenance schedules.
Attend sales meetings and report on performance metrics.
Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Previous sales experience preferred; automotive sales experience is a plus.
Post-secondary education in business or marketing is a plus.
Certifications:
Valid driver’s license required.
State-mandated sales license
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to understand customer needs and match them with appropriate products.
Basic proficiency in mathematics for pricing, financing, and commissions.
Ability to read and interpret documents, reports, and sales materials.
Self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented.
Work Environment:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and drive vehicles.
May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

FLSA Status Clarification:
The position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay. The employee is expected to work the number of hours required to fulfill the duties of the position, which may exceed 40 hours per week at times.
