    POSITION SUMMARY

    Since 2004, New Earth has been fulfilling its mission to provide mentor-based arts, educational, and vocational programs that empower juvenile justice and system involved youth ages 13-25 to transform their lives, move toward positive, healthier life choices, and realize their full potential as contributing members of our community. We are searching for a bright, energetic and outgoing networker who has a proven track record of business connections within Los Angeles

    County coupled with in-depth sales experience. Must be able to work closely with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to develop job opportunities and arrange the direct placement of our members matching the job skills with applicant qualifications. Under limited direction, will establish and maintain relationships with employers to develop job opportunities and support continued employment for New Earth’s members. The ideal candidate will have a professional work-ethic and solid communications skills e.g., ability to interface with clients and partners. This person must have had experience working with at-risk youth between the ages of 18-25 in a leadership and job development management role. Must be able to work collaboratively and independently and have a high level of patience, compassion and flexibility. Additionally, this individual is one who seeks career growth in a development capacity. There is plenty of room for advancement in this role including leadership opportunities.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Expand on current partnerships with outside employers, organizations and agencies
    • Cultivate and secure strong relationships with new employee partners and business clients
    • Help qualified youth/alumni in identifying positions in their field of interest; assists in development of resumes, cover letters and applications; advises youth on employability skills, works with youth to gain relevant skills; assist youth explore alternative employment options
    • Ensure smooth communication between all team members and partnering organizations
    • Maintains currency with industry trends; updates labor market information by researching online resources, attending meetings, and networking with professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities
    • Assist New Earth staff members and youth to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews
    • Develop and oversee an internship program for youth participants
    • Communicates with employers during youth’s employment and reports results to appropriate staff
    • Works with program coordinators to collect and track job placement data, compiles data and prepares reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts
    • Partners with the Director of Vocational Programs and various staff in marketing the program to potential employers. This will include developing and making presentations about New Earth’s job program’s mission, objectives and purpose
    • Collaborate with staff to coordinate and facilitate recruitment days, employer panels, and targeted job fairs
    • Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between employer and employee post job placement
    • Instrumental in helping the organization launch new online training tool and platform
    • Ensure all timelines and deliverables are met to the utmost standard

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree with relevant coursework (such as Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, or Business Administration); OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
    • Increasingly responsible (approximately 2-4 years of full-time equivalent) experience in job development, employee supervision, human resources, job placement, or closely related field
    • Experience working with at-risk or juvenile justice system involved youth a must
    • Networking savvy with strong business connections within Los Angeles County’s communities
    • Knowledge of local economic and labor market conditions and trends
    • Possess effective techniques for contacting potential employers
    • Well-versed in job development and job placement techniques, accepted standard employment practices; community resources and professional organizations; City, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and codes related to employment and Equal Employment Opportunity
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision; monitor, track and compile statistical information; give and follow written and oral instructions
    • Commitment to social justice and New Earth’s mission
    • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
    • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
    • Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people
    • Must be inquisitive, positive, and uplifting with a growth-mindset
    • High energy and motivation to help young people succeed
    • Knowledge of Apricot Social Solutions, Salesforce, Donor CRM Systems, MailChimp, Constant Contact, QuickBooks etc. highly preferred
    • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Position requires frequent travel to area community organizations and businesses
