    The New Earth Life Coach will provide trauma-informed goal setting, personal growth, and behavior redirection to a group of high-risk, system-impacted young people ages 13-25 enrolled in our transformative programs at our New Earth Arts & Leadership Center and at other sites throughout Los Angeles County and in Culver City. This dynamic, resourceful, and detail-oriented individual will become a catalyst for our young people’s success and achievements and become a steadfast advocate for their progress.

    The Life Coach will be the members' partner on their journey through New Earth's programs and services and will continue to provide aftercare and support to program alumni. The Life coach will evaluate outcomes of New Earth members, help set objectives, chart members’ progress, support exploration of career paths, spearhead professional development, and ensure their time at New Earth is powerful, productive and transformative.

    As a New Earth team member, the Life Coach upholds the New Earth mission, prioritizing high-quality and meaningful service to youth ages 13-25 who are impacted by the juvenile justice system, foster care system or are cross-system impacted. As a member of this team, the Life Coach contributes to the evaluations, assessments, and life goal modifications of the New Earth member.

    DUTIES

    · Actively engage with New Earth members in both the center and in the community

    · Communicate regularly with New Earth case management team to ensure quality and effective planning.

    · Use positive communication strategies to motivate New Earth members to reach their goals

    · Use a variety of trauma-informed strategies to assist New Earth members in understanding and effectively dealing with social skills

    · Conduct ongoing conflict resolution and transformative and restorative justice circles

    · Assist New Earth members in implementing difficult changes or adjustments to meet their goals

    · Support Director of Programs in ensuring New Earth member’s participation in programming.

    · Monitor, evaluate, and collect data on New Earth member’s progress and targeted skills

    · Record consistently and accurately in tandem with New Earth policy and procedures

    · Provide encouraging and constructive feedback to New Earth members

    · Engage New Earth members in on-going discussion about their individual goals

    · Develop and facilitate life skill sessions and individual programs for New Earth members

    · Plan and implement vocational programs and opportunities for youth

    · Instruct New Earth members on how to manage everyday tasks to help them gain independence and move forward in life

    · Work one-one-one or in small groups to help New Earth members with unique challenges to develop basic life skills

    · Schedule meetings with New Earth members on a weekly basis and report pertinent information to supervisors

    · Add precise reporting tactics to New Earth member’s growth that can be used as a matrix of success and KPI for the member

    · Provide ample resources to both New Earth Staff and New Earth members on goal setting, self-reflection, and high performance

    · Be consistently exploring new resources to share and prioritize professional development of both staff and members

    · Connect with community members to help bridge gaps between New Earth members and the environment that surrounds them.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    · Bachelor’s degree in guidance and counseling or psychology and sociology or equivalent experience

    · At least 3 years' experience working with youth populations

    · Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred but not required

    · Ability to work independently and collaboratively

    · Trained in trauma-informed approaches for youth

    · Trained in Restorative Practices/Restorative Justice

    · Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

    · Strong active listening skills

    · Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style, including various applications of soft skills

    · Able to manage crisis situations when needed

    · Strategic interpersonal skills with youth

    · Commitment to high professional ethical standards

    · Models culturally sensitive and culturally relevant communication and interaction that respects and includes all individuals and their languages, abilities, religions, and cultures

    · Excels at operating in a fast-paced, multi-tasking community environment

    Language Skills
