    POSITION TITLE: Part Time Development Associate & Grantwriter

    REPORTING TO: Executive Director

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Since 2004, New Earth has been fulfilling its mission to provide mentor-based arts, educational, and vocational programs that empower juvenile justice and system involved youth ages 13-25 to transform their lives, move toward positive, healthier life choices, and realize their full potential as contributing members of our community. We are looking for a bright, experienced individual to join our fundraising team as a Part Time Development Associate & Grantwriter. In addition to researching funding opportunities and writing grant proposals on behalf of our agency, you will be responsible for maintaining a grants calendar to monitor the application process and keep track of various deadlines. You should feel comfortable reaching out to institutional and potential donors, as well as communicating with company leaders regarding their financial needs. Our ideal candidate is someone who will be able to enthusiastically and on-goingly generate the consistent funding our organization needs to operate, fulfill its budget and serve the needs of our youth and their families. Additionally, this individual is one who seeks career growth in a development capacity. There is plenty of room for advancement in this role including full-time and leadership opportunities.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Research, prepare, and submit proposals for funding
    • Follow all requirements and deadlines for grant applications
    • Maintain a grants calendar to monitor progress
    • Write sponsorship packages
    • Identify new funding opportunities
    • Work with leadership to review budgets and implement a comprehensive and strategic annual fund development program
    • Assist in the development of strategies and coordination of all fund-raising activities of New Earth in keeping with Agency goals
    • Assist in the development and implementation of an aggressive long-term funding strategy to include corporate, foundation and government grants, major and planned gifts, annual fund, special events and communications
    • Work with Co-founder to Initiate, cultivate and steward ongoing relationships with current and potential major donors, government, and institutional funders
    • Help to create and execute a strategy for maximizing the utilization of donor tracking software and oversee data entry, gift processing and reporting
    • Work collaboratively with staff to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects and to ensure the mission and vision drive all program and fundraising activities
    • Develop unique solicitations and presentations for special project proposals as needed through interaction and partnerships with program staff
    • Research viable and available funding sources and analyze trends to position New Earth to successfully compete for open grant solicitations
    • Support the coordination of special events
    • Identify appropriate marketing strategies; create marketing materials
    • Works closely with Social Media team to create and send emails and social media posts that engage donors and support giving
    • Help develop clear and timely funding reports for the CEO, Board of Directors and funders
    • Help to create more opportunities for board engagement in fundraising

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Exceptional research skills
    • Must be a highly effective communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must have 1-5 years prior experience writing winning grant proposals with a proven track record of success
    • Experience with budgets and other financial data
    • Working knowledge of general business operations in a nonprofit and social service environment (or similar environment
    • Experience with non-profit fundraising a plus
    • Excellent tech/computer skills. Must be proficient in MS Office and any other technology platforms. Must have relevant work experience with donor database systems and other CRMs
    • Must have tracking and reporting experience both to internal management and externally to funders
    • Experience working with community agencies and various funding sources.
    • Experience working within the social justice space is a PLUS
    • Experience working with high-level management staff
    • Must have experience working in culturally diverse environments.
    • Must be knowledgeable about social justice issues like the school-to-prison pipeline, structural racism, socio-economic biases that contribute to incarceration and research around community-based alternatives to youth incarceration
    • Must be detail-oriented, almost obsessed
    • Must be inquisitive, positive, and uplifting with a growth-mindset
