    Now Hiring: Activities Assistant/Deafblind Aide

    Full-time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, and 11:00 – 7:00 every other weekend.

    Flexible schedule

    Part-Time: Monday, Friday, and Weekends

    Rate: $15.00 per hour

    Location: Danvers, MA 01923

    Job Summary:

    As an Activities Assistant, you will work with the activities department providing fun, healthy activities to stimulate and entertain the residents at NEHD. This will include assisting in the Sunroom and group outings and providing some individual assistance. Help provide interest and direction in tasks. American Sign language is needed for communicating with staff and residents. ASL classes are provided onsite.

    What you’ll be doing:

    Assist with Socializing residents in Sunroom activities

    Create and facilitate activities for residents

    Invite and encourage residents to attend and participate in activities

    Explain the time, place, and nature of activities as needed.

    Offer activity materials for residents to peruse activities/interests in/out of the room as desired.

    Assist residents with activities as needed.

    Properly document each resident’s daily activity participation in the appropriate logs.

    Provide appropriate group and one-on-one activities for all residents.

    Assist in the transport of residents to the activity location.

    Copy, and distribute the Activities scheduled to residents.

    Set up activity areas.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Participate in offsite resident Activities and group outings.

    Attend outdoor events with residents on and off the property.

    What You’ll Need:

    · An attitude of respect and compassion towards all residents and staff.

    · Ability to communicate clearly using ASL as deafblind aid.

    · Willingness to work weekends and Holidays, on occasion or regularly

    · Pleasant personality and ability to maintain a calm demeanor during excitable or emergency situations.

    · Must be 16 years of age or older.

    · Must be up to date with a Health Physical, Flu Vaccine, and Covid-19 Vaccine.

    · Knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture a plus. Staff must participate in free, weekly ASL classes are on-site.
