    What You'll Do:

    • ​Communication : As a DSP, you'll excel at communicating with individuals from all walks of life, even when words aren't enough. Non-verbal cues are your forte.
    • Physical Agility : You're prepared to handle the physical aspects of the job, including bending, lifting, and more, all while maintaining a positive attitude.
    • Patience : Your patience is unmatched, and you're dedicated to accommodating different abilities.
    • Education: A high school diploma, or equivalent is required.
    • Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
    • Attitude: Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and a commitment to continuous learning are a must.
    • Screening: Candidates will undergo drug screenings and background checks before employment.
    • D​riving : Candidates must meet our automotive insurance requirements to operate company vehicles.

    Responsibilities

    As a DSP at New Horizon Services you'll be a beacon of support, attending to the individual needs of each person in your care. Your duties include:

    • ​Assisting with grooming, bathing, hygiene, toileting, feeding, and other individual requirements.
    • Supporting individuals in their preferred leisure and recreational activities.
    • ​Encouraging socially acceptable behaviors and communication with peers, family, and the community.
    • ​Administering medications following physicians' orders.
    • Implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
    • ​Providing training and support based on individual goals.
    • ​Maintaining a current understanding of Person-Centered Support Plans (PCSP) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP).
      • ​Documenting services, emergency visits, medication, and other vital information.
    • ​Ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
    • ​Reporting special incidents, suspected abuse, and health and safety issues.
    • ​Participating in staff meetings and continuing education.
