    BEHAVIOR ASSISTANT JOB OVERVIEW

    The New Jersey Expanding Capabilities Center (The NJ ECC) is an agency which serves individuals with developmental disabilities and seeks to provide the highest level of care and innovation for the DD population. The NJ ECC is seeking strong motivated staff with experience in the field of behavior/ psychology and special education to join our Team! The team is looking for applicants with a passion for this field and the population it serves. Experience working in the field of ABA or special education is preferred but alternative experience and credentials will be considered equally. A Behavior Assistant will work directly with the individuals assuring their activities are aligning with their individual goals and Behavior plans. This will be accomplished through following individuals' Behavior Plans and ISP goals, and ensuring strategies and protocol are being followed. Behavior Assistants will take an individualized approach when serving the individuals, complying with the agency's mission and vision to provide person-centered care. They will directly assist in room management, program/material creation and maintenance, as well as data collection. Behavior Assistants are to report to the Vice President of Behavior Services and Program Director, respectively. Above all, The team is looking for applicants with strong organizational skills, a desire to learn and grow in the field, and the ability to work as a team player.

    The NJ ECC offers supervision under registered BCBA for RBT, BCBA, or BCaBA certifications as well as supervision for Licensed Social Worker certifications. The NJ ECC offers health insurance coverage (Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield Omnia Gold) along with Dental and Vision Coverage. Additionally, The NJ ECC offers a 401k package with 4% match. Finally, all staff will accrue paid vacation days, Sick days, and Floater days on an ongoing basis.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • 1-2 years experience serving the intellectually disabled population, experience in ABA and/or special education preferred
    • Strong communication skills, awareness of advocacy needs, empathetic towards others, strong willingness to learn, concrete boundaries, and reliable
    • Basic timekeeping, reading, and math skills are required
    • Understanding of basic principles of ABA
    • Experience with behavior plans/intervention, RBT or in progress RBT/BCBA/BCaBA certification preferred but not required.
    • Clean driving record, with little or no points
    • Able to produce a driving abstract at time of interview, and be able to drive a company van while abiding by all NJ Motor Vehicles driving requirements (not to exceed 5 points for staff who are required to drive)
    • CPR/First Aid preferred, but willing to train. Crisis management also preferred but will train in house
    • Valid NJ Driver's License; must be 18+
    • Required to pass a background check and record verification, as well as complete fingerprinting process prior to hire
