Requirements: Respiratory Therapy Care Practitioner who is a graduate of an American Medical Association approved training program. Has successfully passed the certification examination. Maintains a current RCP license and CPR certification (BLS).

Duties :

1. CPR
2. Operation, maintenance, and management of mechanical ventilators
3. Patient transportation (internal and external)
4. Blood gas collection and interpretation
5. Artificial airway management
6. Aerosolized drug administration
7. Oxygen therapy
8. Humidity therapy
9. CPAP therapy
10. Pulse oximetry
11. Capnography
12. Patient assessment
13. Effective communication with other department and family members
14. Operation of all equipment in accordance with department policy
15. Quality control of all equipment
16. Participation in the department’s quality improvement programs
17. Equipment cleaning
18. Participation in in-service education program
19. Following Physician orders
20. Other assigned duties

Physical and Emotional Demands: Good physical and emotional health. Needs to comprehend and communicate with staff, residents and their families.

Exposure Risks: Normal work routine could involve exposure to blood and body fluids. Responsible for following OSHA guideline standard and the use of universal precautions.

Working Conditions: Hours indicated by the residents and community's needs. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.

If your assignment involves caring for individuals on life-support, where having a therapist in-house is required by law, you will need to make arrangements to come to work during inclement weather. These arrangements can be in coordination with NJRA, and may involve alternative modes of transportation, such as a taxi, or showing up to work earlier or staying at work later then your scheduled shift.
