POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Development creates and oversees the overall strategy for fundraising, expansion and cultivation of the donor base. Working with a strong development team, this position manages the strategy for our capital campaign, direct mail, digital campaigns, community engagement, events, grant writing, volunteers and social enterprise.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Create annual development plan and budget to include individual donors, monthly donors, corporate gifts, event sponsors, church supporters and grant opportunities.
Manage grant program and submission calendar.
Develop and implement a Planned Giving Program
Monitor financial expenditures and progress against budgetary plan and take appropriate measures to meet development goals.
Cultivate relationships with corporations, businesses, major donors and community members.
Oversee planning and execution of fundraising events.
Grow, build and retain a team of high-quality, professional development staff members to ensure department goals and industry best practices are met and exceeded.
Train, mentor and evaluate all development staff and encourage team members to work together efficiently and collaboratively.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in marketing, public relations, communications or nonprofit management preferred.
3 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising
Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues across the organization.
Ability to establish rapport with donors of all levels and volunteers.
Demonstrated experience with peer-to-peer fundraising and corporate relationships.
Public presentation capabilities to engage small or large groups of participants, volunteers, and donors.
Experience with technology platforms to include Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, CRM database (DonorPerfect) and event-tracking software.
SALARY/HOURS
Full-time position is located in Melbourne, FL
