Internship summary: The Intern will develop a greater understanding of non-profit accounting by providing finance and grant-related hands-on assistance to both Director of Finance and Contracts Manager. The Intern must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with other program and management personnel. Attention to detail is key, and the intern must have strong analytical and organizational skills. This role is located at New Moms' Transformation Center in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Internship Role: - Assists with funder reporting requirements and voucher preparation. - Organizes and maintains finance/accounting documents and files. - Provides technical assistance on expense reporting system. - Assists with special grant/finance related projects. - Other activities as assigned. Qualifications: - Enrolled and participating in an accredited bachelor or graduate level accounting, finance, administration or related-field program. - Must be available for 12 - 20 hours a week. - High attention to detail and results-oriented approach to work. - Sound professional judgment and analytical ability, as well as the desire to work in a socially- and psychologically-pressured environment. - Experience in the use of personal computers and Microsoft software applications. - Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing. - Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines concurrently. - Dynamic relationship-building skills to create and sustain fruitful relationships internally with participants and co-workers and also with external partners. - Complete background check.
