Banquet Captain - Riverboat Louis Armstrong

Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain reports to F&B Management (F&B Manager, or Weddings & Events Manager). Ensures that elements of a venue are ready before guests arrive, including the dining tables, centerpieces, table settings, bar packages, food presentation and buffets. The Banquet Captain interacts with the host to respond to any special requests or last-minute adjustments monitoring the activities of workers and guests. They are the point of contact for any questions, complaints or comments that may arise. The Banquet Captain supervises the cleanup after the event checking inventory and storage of supplies and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Works with F&B Management to schedule banquet service personnel
Works with F&B Manager and kitchen staff to get details of menu, food prep and service standards before each event.
Ensures elements of venue are ready before guests arrive, including dining tables, centerpieces, table settings, bar packages, food presentation and buffets.
Assign specific tasks and duties to staff
Ensures safety and sanitation codes are followed by examining the cleanliness of the venue and bathrooms before each event.
Train staff to recognize improper guest behavior
Interacts with host for any special requests or last minute adjustments.
After event, review charges incurred and collect payment onsite or in coordination with Sales Manager/Wedding/Event Manager.
Supervise cleanup, take inventory of and store supplies and equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
High School education/GED minimum required
MUST be able to take pre-placement and random drug tests
Must be able to pass background check
Excellent customer service and people skills required
Previous Banquet Lead position
High energy and stamina required
Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure
Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively
Strong verbal communication skills required
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
Ability to read menus, safety documents, plan-o-grams
Physical Demands and work environment:
Must be able to work in venue on water
Will require stooping, bending, climbing
lifting up to 75 pounds
Periods of long periods of standing
