    POSITION SUMMARY: The Workforce Development Coordinator (WDC) will have a wide range of responsibilities in the development of work-based learning opportunities for students across The School of Cooperative Technical Education (Coop Tech) (www.co-optech.org). The WDC is responsible for identifying and recruiting industry partners, nurturing industry relationships, supporting the work-based learning coordinator, and training and monitoring Coop Tech students through all aspects of their internship experience. Performs related work.

     

    REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal’s Designee

     

    DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

     

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Principals, Assistant Principals, School Counselors, Social Workers, Teachers, students, District 79 Central Team, and university and industry partners.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Student Placement and Training

    Recruit students that are interested in developing their work-readiness skills.

    Prepare students for internship placement by facilitating trainings.

    Place students in various internships based on career interest and skill level.

    Monitor the progress of students through site visits, check-ins, and communication with partners.

    Continue to develop students’ professionalism by leading professional development seminars.

    Collaborate with counselors and/or other staff in order to:

    • ensure that students have met requirements for internship placement;
    • develop learning goals for students at their work-based learning sites; and
    • intervene in student challenges at worksites.

     

    Develop and Manage Partnerships

    • Search for industry partners that will help foster student and community success.
    • Identify partners in the community that will create meaningful work-based learning opportunities.
    • Manage and evaluate partnerships to ensure success for both the students, partners, and community.

     

     

    Documentation

     

    • Manage a centralized database to track student cases, internship placements, and partner information.
    • Maintain documentation for students and partners.
    • Prepare evaluation reports, perform analysis, and review program plans, funding, and performance.
    • Prepare correspondence, documents, and other forms of written communication for internal and external community outreach purposes.

     

    Operations

    • Attend internal and external partnership meetings as needed.
    • Liaise with other partnership personnel regarding new opportunities, challenges, and best practices.
    • Meet with community leaders and the administration to plan community events.
    • Maintain ongoing contact with community-based organizations that are involved with providing services to support the school’s educational programs.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

    MINIMUM

     

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time, paid experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
    2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above.  However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.

     

    PREFERRED

     

    • Existing relationships with partners that provide college and/or work opportunities for students.
    • Experience working with transitional student populations.
    • Experience facilitating groups to achieve student learning objectives.
    • Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility with multiple priorities.
    • Commitment to District 79’s mission to support all students.
    • Experience managing and cultivating partnerships with a diverse group of organizations.
    • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills; strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong project management and implementation experience.

     

    SALARY: $50,231 +

    (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not make less than their current salary.)
