    POSITION: ACCOUNTANT III

    LOCATION: LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS

    SALARY: $58,991 - $75,674

    HOURS: MONDAY THRU FRIDAY, 8:00AM – 4:30PM

     

    Becoming an Accountant III at the Lake County Division of Transportation will allow you to be involved with other accountants, engineers, and maintenance workers within local government, ranging from consultants and municipalities to the State of Illinois. Your day will consist of preparing, analyzing and monitoring the division’s budget, processing accounting entries for the bond debt service, working with the Director of Finance to develop the revenue section of the division’s 5-year plan, developing and processing the accounting entries for the annual revenue and expense carryovers, and approving accounting work performed by subordinate staff. This position will be the lead for the division’s external audit and the Illinois Department of Transportation Motor Fuel Tax audit. Other daily tasks will include processing accounts payable invoices for payment; posting receivables; preparing and submitting requisitions and purchase orders and completing the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) reporting. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County, which consists of more than 30 departments and divisions. Being able to build working relationships with employees and the public is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning. 

     

    To be successful in this role individuals should have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field, or education or training equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and seven to ten years of related accounting experience. Experience with Oracle Enterprise Accounting system is a plus. The candidate must have an excellent aptitude for numbers; good analysis skills; the ability to work well in a team environment; must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Suite; must also exercise sound professional judgment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
