    POSITION SUMMARY: The New York City school system is the largest in the country, composed of approximately 1.1 million students and 80,000+ teachers in over 1,800 schools.

     

    The Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning (CIPL) manages professional development in the Division of Teaching and Learning (DT&L). The CIPL Project Coordinator, working with members of CIPL, is responsible for supporting work around the implementation of CIPL’s strategy for assisting schools and Field Support Center staff with the Common Core Standards. The incumbent will work closely with leadership to support smooth implementation of successful high-quality professional learning sessions for all content teams within CIPL.

     

    The CIPL Project Coordinator will plan, organize, and administer activities and programs related to professional development, and student and school-based programs. This position will also be responsible for supporting internal and external communications and operations functions for CIPL program teams. Performs related work.

     

    REPORTS TO: Program Director

     

    DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

     

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Chancellor’s Office, Deputy Chancellor of Teaching and Learning, Senior Executive Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning, teachers and principals, various offices/divisions within the DOE, external stakeholders.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Coordinate all professional development and special events; organize logistics, including participant outreach and registration, serve as liaison with host site, and coordinate materials, resources, A/V, and support implementation.
    • Work to establish congenial, supportive, and collaborative relationships with school leaders.
    • Support the Program Director in developing customized outreach and support plans for schools.
    • Develop and implement working relationships with vendors in support of the curriculum.
    • Work with the Program Director to facilitate the creation of professional learning communities to support professional development.
    • Serve as primary communication liaison between the NYCDOE and internal/external stakeholders: respond to phone calls and emails; facilitate the dissemination of information through internal communication channels; communicate important announcements regarding workshops, events and professional development opportunities to teachers and administrators via email, newsletters, calls, calendars, etc.
    • Create databases of contact information for constituents (teachers and principals) and partners (community-based organizations).
    • Serve as a liaison to school leaders and teachers that participate in programs.
    • Assist with maintenance of the program team website to disseminate time-sensitive information to NYCDOE school leaders, teachers, students, and parents.
    • Serve as a representative for curriculum-based initiatives. Coordinate and implement planning and logistics support for centrally-planned citywide events and programs.
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of central office programs and initiatives as needed, including professional development, student programs, leadership events, and partnership programs.
    • Research, compile, and track data on program to inform the development and planning of initiatives.
    • Support survey administration, data collection, analysis, and reporting on arts programming for program team and other CIPL/DOE offices.
    • Monitor and assess the efficacy of program initiatives to improve student achievement.
    • Coordinate office management, including organization, calendars, and asset inventory.
    • Assist with budget management for all professional development, events, and activities, as well as office operations, including communication with vendors, procurement of necessary supplies, equipment, and services, and expenditure tracking and reporting.
    • Edit and organize presentation materials and office documents and resources.
    • Coordinate and participate in strategic planning processes to support efficient and effective office operations and maximum utilization of services and resources.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

    MINIMUM

     

    1. A master’s degree from an accredited college in education, guidance, educational administration and supervision, or a related field; or
    2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one of the following:

    (A) one year of full-time satisfactory professional experience in educational program administration, career or occupational program administration; or

    (B) one year of full-time satisfactory professional experience as a state certified or licensed teacher; or

    1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of full-time satisfactory professional experience in educational program administration, career or occupational program administration; or
    2. A combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to the requirements in "1," "2," and "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least an approved four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

     

    PREFERRED

     

    • Analytical thinker with experience in situational problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and follow-up.
    • Project coordination and logistics experience.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with education and non-education personnel internal and external to the DOE.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to organize facts and present information and figures in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
    • Attentive to detail and extremely well-organized.
    • Ability to work under pressure and navigate an environment that is extremely high-paced with projects under tight and changing deadlines.
    • Ability to learn quickly and continuously and be responsive to constructive feedback.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Internal candidates preferred.

     

    SALARY: $68,990+

    (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not make less than their current salary.)
