  • Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Supervise, develop and train the production planning and scheduling and purchasing groups.
    • Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing total cost.
    • Oversees the maintaining of material cost for all products.
    • Responsible for the parameters (safety stock, order quantities, lead times) in the Demand Planning system.
    • Meets or exceeds established inventory turns objective.
    • Ensure the supply base meets delivery and Purchase Orders (PO) are maintained.
    • Ensure that all required training is identified for and completed by all direct reports.
    • Ownership and management of the forecast, procurement, OTD, and inventory metrics.
    • Estimates need to reorder supplies due to rejections and engineering changes during manufacturing cycle.
    • Create reporting tools necessary to analyze historical data and markets trends.
    • BPA / Standard Purchase Order Management         
    • Engagement with planning team to manage supplier delivery/quality issues
    • Plan and/or schedule, release, confirm and follow-up on assigned material, components, and/or parts to ensure on-time delivery and support to the manufacturing schedules (MRP)
    • Review, determine, and maintain inventory at levels to support company goals while maintaining a high level of customer service and eliminate production downtime
    • Actively participate in daily Materials Team’s Calls providing timely updates on any open part issues or inventory planning
    • Manage products responsibility in rationalization or change activities to deplete finished goods, raw materials, and related assemblies.
    • Monitor and implement bill of material (BOM) changes and new product introductions (NPI) on a timely basis
    • Develop and maintain supplier relationships that result in on time delivery and fast recovery times with effective communication of new delivery times from supplier to internal team when supply issues do arise.
    • Create, monitor, or complete actions as assigned for change requests and Engineering Change Notification (ECN) changes.
    • Actively participate in Material Review Board (MRB) with Quality Team to complete all actions as assigned for Non-Conformance product or SCAR resolutions.
    • Occasionally purchase indirect materials and services from suppliers
    • Write and/or maintain procedures which impact the Materials organization
    • Work closely with Operations to facilitate improvements in material procurement, flow, and storage
    • Support regular S&OP cadence and requests for various product lines
    • Complete all required training applicable to assigned position and develop and maintain Standard Work.
    • Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s in Business or related field or 5 years of increasing responsibility in planning, buying or scheduling role
    • APICS Certified (or actively pursuing) in Purchasing or Production & Inventory Control Systems (CPIM, CSCP, etc.)
    • Experience in Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement processes a Plus
    • Demonstrated understanding of MRP/ERP Systems and Processes (SAP software a Plus)
    • Experience dealing with international suppliers (experience dealing with Chinese suppliers a plus)
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Effective math, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Experience in Persuasive Communication or Negotiation skills a Plus
    • Computer literate in MS Suite applications
    • Demonstrated understanding of MRP, Demand Management systems and Master Production Schedule

    • Must be able to read and understand English language for our Quality boards.
    • Computer knowledge is advised.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of gauges and measurement instrumentation.
    • Use reading and writing, adding and subtracting of whole numbers; following of instructions; use of fixed gauges, direct reading of instruments and similar devices where interpretation is not required.
    • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
    • Must be able to work 3rd shift consistently; a shift compensation premium will be provided
