    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    Promotes & maintains a flexible, cooperative, positive, team-oriented & customer-focused attitude within & between departments/terminals.

    Recommends changes or improvements in dispatch policies/procedures & implements changes as directed.

    Expedites special pickups & deliveries.

    Works proactively with related support departments such as customer care, order entry, etc. ensuring proper information is obtained/shared in an efficient & timely  manner.

    Provides flexibility for working on-call hours during weekends as required & directed by General Manager to include carrying a company pager/cell phone as necessary during assigned on-call hours.

    Performs follow-up activities as required on customer fax orders, driver errors, late pickups/deliveries, etc. to ensure that pickups/deliveries are performed

    Traces duplicate pickups & Tax Pro’s as necessary in a timely manner.

    Communicates with other dispatch staff/other shifts to ensure proper policies & procedures are followed & problems/concerns are resolved in a timely manner.

    Ensures all files, records, databases & backup paperwork are set up, maintained & processed as required in a timely manner within functional responsibilities.

    Communicates daily status updates to customers as required regarding freight status by researching charges, POD’s, late or missed freight pickups/deliveries, etc.

    Performs accurate alphanumeric data entry into Tax-Air Ultra Pro system or other applicable program applications as required in a timely manner.

    Provides training on company policies & procedures to assigned staff as required.

    All other duties as assigned by supervisor or General Manager.

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

    Must have the ability to promote & help maintain positive driver relations & morale which can be impacted by fast- paced/changing needs involving dispatching & its effects on drivers.

    Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills as well as superior customer relations skills.

    Must possess excellent attention to detail with strong organization & follow-up skills.

    Must have flexibility to work on-call hours during weekends with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision/direction.

    Must possess above-average PC skills with experience in related software applications.

    Must have at least 6 months prior dispatch experience.

    A working knowledge of airfreight, domestic & international & import/export preferred.

    Fork truck certification is required upon employment; experience loading/unloading commercial vehicles is preferred but not required.

     

    EQUIPMENT/TOOLS OPERATED

    Standard office equipment including as personal computer, multi-line telephone, communication devices (Nextel), fax, calculator, scanning equipment, imaging equipment, copy machine, etc.

    • Ability to quickly learn other software used for document creation, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Salesforce
    • Technical editing skills and mastery of AP Style Guidelines
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three (3) years of business writing experience
