This position conducts the delivery of domestic violence services to residents of the Shelter and other Clinical Services clients. This position will deliver individual assessments, individual and group therapy, and advocacy and support planning services to clients enrolled in the Shelter, Outreach and Transitional Housing program and for clients in the community as capacity allows. As needed, this position will provide consultation, education, and information to other professionals in the agency, and/or other community providers, regarding impacts of trauma, domestic violence, and mental health issues.
This position reports to Vice President of Clinical Services and provides direct clinical services for residents in the emergency shelter, residential program. This includes ensuring the appropriate documentation of all services provided per organization policies, contract standards and established best practices including Trauma-Informed Care.
- Conduct individual and group trauma-informed therapy for residents who are victims of domestic violence.
- Act as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that the program’s treatment goals and client behavioral management needs are met.
- Provide or ensure the provision of thorough assessments with treatment recommendations.
- Participate in clinical and DBT team meetings.
- Participate in the development of quality improvement plans for the program.
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of training related to domestic violence and evidence-based practices.
- Develop and coordinate the Clinical Internship Program.
- Ensure that all reporting of data is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure the use of valid, reliable assessment tools and documentation of assessments.
- Ensure proper coordination of treatment needs among the clients served, including connection with needed resources at discharge.
- Lead regular therapeutic groups per agreed upon frequency. Current groups include therapy groups, DBT group, Seeking Safety Addiction Group, and Process Group.
- Coordinate and provide training and/or mini-workshops to support staff in their clinical knowledge.
- Prepare timely progress notes, reports, outcomes and units of service.
- Maintain all services in compliance with organization and contract standards. Serve in community workgroups and attend community meetings to better advocate for resident’s needs.
- Service as a part of the performance and quality improvement team.
- Maintain compliance with all mandates as required by best practice standards, agency policies and funding requirements.
- Work collaboratively with different teams and departments across the organization.
- Work effectively with other professionals in the field.
- Maintain knowledge of issues affecting domestic violence and trauma victims.
- Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility for self-care.
- Ensure that all services provided are sensitive to the culture and individual needs of each resident.
- Perform functions of the job according to agency policies and procedures.
- Perform all job responsibilities utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care, accessibility, and cultural competency.
- Participate in all required training and optional training as determined.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree with a major area of study in social work, counseling, or a related field from an accredited university/college.
- Licensure as an LCSW/LPC in Missouri.
- Preferred experience working with victims of domestic violence and trauma for a minimum of four years.
- Minimum of four years of experience providing individual and/or group therapy.
- Excellent organizational skills are essential.
- Highly developed communication skills – oral, written, public presentations, and relationship-building.
- Must be able to develop strong relationships with residents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Desire for professional growth as evidenced by accepting and responding to constructive feedback.
- Knowledge of the impact of complex trauma on victims and family systems.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and the ability to guide others in crisis situations.
- Strong customer service, team leadership and critical thinking skills are essential.
- Preferred experience/training/certification in Trauma-Informed Care, EMDR, and DBT.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, and Gmail.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
